Yes I tried color in the home darkroom and after much frustration and failed attempts concluded it was way cheaper to send my 35 mm color negatives or slides/transparencies directly to Kodak and have them make an 8x10 color, or larger, print for me than doing it myself. So the home darkroom was strictly B&W.

Back in the days of film, ISO/ASA 50 film had a much finer grain than ISO 200. Most Pros and serious Amateurs used Kodachrome 25 because of grain issues.

Tell Me Why This Is A Bad Idea ( If it is )
Jack12477 replied to Gregory's topic in Modeling tools and Workshop Equipment
I have a very good friend who many years ago completely lost the index and middle finger on his right hand to a table saw accident. Ever try to pick something up with your thumb and ring finger and pinky? Or hold a pen or pencil with a missing index and middle finger? Think about the advice everyone is giving you ! -
Us too here in the Catskills, Adirondacks, and higher elevations of Western Massachusetts .

Eric, do these photos of the viking longboat Drakan help with your shield placement? It visited Kingston's Hudson River Maritime Museum a few years ago.

Since @Edwardkenway asked, I will show some of the stones I use to sharpen my woodcarving knives as well as the Xacto blades. Bottom of picture Left to Right: Spyderco dual grit ceramic stone, midsized ceramic stone, full sized ceramic stone in bench hook, small strop, longer strop with handle Top of photo: 1000 grit and 6000 grit Japanese water stones, pocket size Water stones pocket size Spyderco pocket stone closeup My woodcarving knives I should mention that the ceramic stones do not require lubricant and can be surface cleaned with mild soap and water (like Dawn brand dish detergent)

Actually, it is a ceramic "stone", can use with water or dry, works great. I also have a longer version, as well as 2 Japanese mini water stones and the traditional oil stones. I prefer the ceramic tho. In the Spyderco leather pouch is another even smaller dual grit ceramic stone. The grey leather thingies are thumb guards so you don't slice your thumb with the knife, even the mere pressure of the blade against bare skin can produce a serious cut. I know, been there done that 😂

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
