  1. Hello, dear friends! Thank you very much for your support and kind words. I appreciate them a lot. I was not here for a long time and I have to apologize. In January I started new career, the work was not difficult, but I had no free time and also the new job did not bring me any pleasure nor satisfaction. So I decided to finish there and few days ago I have found a new occupation as a branch Manager at Don Bosco society and believe this will be much better for me. The Royal Caroline is already finished a have to say, that she is my best ship model I have ever created. I would like to bring some pics from the progress for you and hope, you will enjoy them. Have a great time and take care Doris
  2. Amazing work, the level of realism, how you make and assemble the hull, is just awesome. Have a great time and Happy New Year Doris
  3. That is really a masterpiece, dear Nils. I always enjoy browsing through your build logs and pics from process. Happy New Year Doris
  4. I admire such accurate and precise work. Great looking model! Kind regards and Happy New Year Doris
  5. Very impressive and beautiful model, dear Sjors. Your work is admirable and I also like this ship a lot. Agamemnon is one of my favourites. Happy New Year a all the best for You and Anja Best regards Doris
  6. Magnificent work, dear Nigel. The level of details on the planking is breathtaking. Happy New Year Best regards Doris
  7. Dear friends, first I would like to wish you happy New Year 2015 and have a great time, plenty of health and optimism. Thank you very much for your kind words and all the comments, you wrote to me. I am blessed to be here with you and appreciate your favour a lot. Tomorrow it is my first day at new work so now I feel a bit nervous, cause this will be completely different than my previous occupation. Your support and friendship mean a lot for me and helps me being strong. Thank you warmly. During last days I finished topmasts and deadeyes on the tops. I used card and pale wood (ramin). know, the work goes slowly, but I try to make the model neatly and much realistic, than my previous ships, so it is necessary to spend some time studying plans and nautical literature.
  8. Well, dear friends, I have finished tops on the masts ( made of card and wood) and now I am going to continue with rigging on Royal Caroline. I have unfortunately less free time for hobbies ( because I have a new and very responsible job as a sales director in a company selling cosmetics), but I would like to continue and make models for relaxation.
  9. Hello dear friends, thank you very much for your praise and kind words. I am pleased and honored you like my work. Sometimes modeler needs a change and this plastic Chebec was a nice touch. The kit by Imai is rarely available, because the manufacturer does not exist for many years. Hello Jan, I do not use Revell colours for finished painting. I used oil paints (this is my first plastic model I have painted this way) to achieve wooden look and more realistic weathering. For example: http://eshop.koh-i-noor.eu/oil-colours/c-1129/ It is necessary to apply clear coat/synthetic lacquer to finish painting. Well dear Nigel, this Heller's Chebec in 1/50 is really superb. http://www.radekshipmodels.cz/en/seznam-modelu-plachetnic-en/modely-v-meritku-do-1_100/le-chebec-en I also I thought about it, but it is too large for me. Next year I am going to build La Réale by Heller in 1/75, I found this beautiful kit under Christmas tree.... http://www.radekshipmodels.cz/en/seznam-modelu-plachetnic-en/modely-v-meritku-do-1_100/la-reale-de-france-en
  10. Dear friends, I wish you Merry Christmas and a happy New Year 2015. Best regards Doris BTW, during previous weeks I made a new model - Chebec 1:80/plastic model by Imai, and today I have just finished it. This build was primarily relaxation and enjoyment for me. Here is a thread, you can have a look, if you want: http://modelforum.cz/viewtopic.php?f=177&t=89590&start=45
  11. Now the Royal Caroline is safe in the showroom among my other ships: Best regards Doris
  12. Hello Mark, I use mainly threads Amati and Corel. Well, it is made by turning the thin thread around the rope/stay in more layers. I also use the glue (water based) to modify the layers in a suitable shape. Doris
  13. Hello, dear friends! Thank you very much for your kind words and support. I appreciate all your comments a lot. I have to apologize you, I am writing so late, but I have a lot of problems mainly at work and also many duties, so I did not visit internet almost at all and unfortunately have no time for building models. I am searching for a new and better job, so it is quite difficult time now for me, cause there are a lot of unemployed people in our country. I believe, things will go better next months and it will be possible to continue with modelling in winter. I am going to share my work with you and looking forward to continuing. Have a great time and take care Doris Here are some of last pics from the process, I have made in august. The pins are hand made.
  14. Excellent work, dear Nils. I admire, what you are able to create from the wood and metal. What a great inspiration and beauty. Best regards Doris
  15. Very nice result with the clay. It is quite easy to work with it, only needs a bit of training and suitable tools. Cold water is also very useful, because the clay is usually sticky in a normal temperature, and if you dip metal tools in icy water, the work with clay is easier. Best regards, Doris
  16. Dear Nenad, you are very kind to me. Well, in fact I make mistakes quite often and I have to say, that sometimes I am sad, because must remake finished parts to achieve better or more realistic appearance. Nobody is perfect and I try to learn and improve with each new model that I build. This is a very good motivation..... Kind regards, Doris
  17. Dear friends, I appreciate your kind words and praise a lot. Your support means a lot for me and I feel very honored you like my work on the model. Thank you warmly for all your comments. Well, I think you overrate my skills. Here at MSW there are a lot of great and professional quality models, and I find here plenty of superb inspiration. This helps me to achieve better results in my work. I am still learning new ways, how to do...., and also try to avoid own mistakes that I did at my previous models. Oh yes, a lot of things I cannot do.... For example I am not very handy for cooking, but fortunately I have a tolerant partner who forgive me. And the ropes/rigging - I think, you make a very good job on it. Do not underestimate yourself, I like your work a lot. Hello Johann, no problem, I use this rope walk from Amati: http://www.modelylodi.cz/Pripravek-na-vyrobu-lan-d754.htm And what´s new on rigging... Today I finished main and fore stay. As a basis I use ropes mainly from Amati and Corel, the each rope on the pics below is plaited from three springs. Please enjoy the pics and have a great time. Best regards, Doris
  18. Outstanding work, I admire your model a precise planking a lot. I wish you a lot of success during the build and looking forward to continuing Doris
  19. Hello dear friends, thank you warmly for your comments and kind words, I am very pleased and honored reading all the posts you wrote to me. That is a great motivation and feedback for my work. This week I have started to make shrouds, all ropes are hand plaited on ropewalk and I try to make the rigging in a better way and more realistic than on my previous models. All the ropes are also improved by weathering and impregnated. Here you can see the result: Best regards Doris
  20. I decided to add on the bow also the seats of ease, I found inspiration also here: As my opinion the bow grating looks better now. I know that the bars should be embedded into slots, but at this stage of progress with many delicate details around it was very difficult to remake the grating and make it accurate. Best regards, Doris
  21. Hello dear friends, I feel so honored and pleased reading your posts. Thank you very much for you kind words and support, that is a great motivation for me and also a commitment to continue with my work as best as I can. Well, for me it is easier to make pins from two parts, cause I have no lathe or other suitable tools , that can facilitate the work. First I was a bit afraid of their strength, but it is O.K. After gluing into the plank the pins are very strong. I am glad, you like it. In future I am going to make other videos "how to do" . I believe, this is a better than description using words. Well dear friends, during this weekend I have decided to remake a grating on the bow, cause the first version did not match reality at all. I found a lot of perfect inspiration here at MSW, so I try to improved my model. Here are the pics from process: This is a previous version (I have to say that I did not like it)... And this is a sketch of how I wanted to do: So I have started with disassembling, I use debonder and must be very careful and patient.... And here you can see left side almost finished: Done:
