Hi Robert and welcome to Model Ship World. Another source for planking information is the Articles Database located at the top of the page. Click on this and another page opens. You can scroll down to the Planking and Framing section where you will find articles on planking. It is a good resource. What part of Virginia are you located in?

USF Confederacy by Rustyj - FINISHED
Ryland Craze replied to Rustyj's topic in - Build logs for subjects built 1751 - 1800
Congratulations Rusty on your USF Confederacy taking the People's Choice first place award in the Sail Category at the Northeast Joint Clubs Conference and Show yesterday. There were a lot of top notch models in that category, but yours was definitely the best and the voters got it right. It is a beautiful model. I also enjoyed seeing you again. If you get a chance, please post a picture of your award.- 149 replies

Hi RMillet and welcome to Model Ship World. I am glad that you have decided to start your wooden ship modeling journey with the Model Shipways "Shipwright Series". The are excellent kits for the first time wooden ship modeler. I did a search and found quite a few build logs for this kit. Here is a link to them: https://modelshipworld.com/tags/Lowell Grand Banks Dory/

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
