  1. I think it all looks pretty good. You are not giving yourself enough credit. Good work. Russ
  2. I usually make the oars first and then make the oar locks to fit them. That is, of course, if I know the diameter of the oars. Yours look very good. Nice work. Russ
  3. Nice work. The color scheme is very interesting. A little bit of scratch building such as your breast hook is a good thing. This gives you a taste of scratch building and will show you what you can accomplish. Russ
  4. The wales look great. The photo looking down the side shows a really nice sweet curve on all of them. Well done. Russ
  5. So far so good. I build models of local skiffs on a fairly regular basis and one of things that makes them so much fun is that they go together very quickly. Instant gratification. Russ
  6. Great start. This will make a beautiful model. Just go slow, enjoy the process, and ask questions before rather than after. Russ
  7. The display board and the pedestals look very good. That will make a great presentation when the model is completed. Russ
  8. The model looks great. Good job on the planking. Your clamps are very interesting. Good work all around. Russ
  9. I think Bob's solution will work. That sort of belaying was done more often than we realize. Russ
  10. Kenneth: Consider using paper or tape for the black bands. It is easier to deal with than the metal bands and still makes a very good looking job. You can use black paper or tape or you can simply paint the paper or tape and then cut it into strips and stick or glue it on to the stocks. Russ
  11. The rudder looks fine. The shape looks pretty good and the paint work seems good. Nice work. Russ
  12. Probably only the breeching was left in place to secure the gun when not in action. The blocks for the various tackles could be removed. Russ
  13. Sam: That looks good. I think I would opt for a simple raised edge on either side of the column. Perhaps a strip of card glued to either side of the column that stands just proud of the outer surface of the column to give each column a shadow line on either side. Russ
  14. Max: I have the booklet and the plans. They are very good and you should have no problem. The model build is very like how the actual boat was built. It is built upside down on a set of formers and then the framing is fitted inside the boat. Russ
  15. Excellent work. The deck fittings look very good. You did well in getting the parts fitted and looking shipshape. The deck views are really good. This is an impressive model. Shows what you can do with some skill and patience. Russ
  16. Very nicely done. I like the use of the vellum in this instance. It came out beautifully and if you had said it, no one would know it was vellum. Russ
  17. The blocks and metal work are excellent. Very nice work. I especially like the metal work on the throat halyard. Russ
  18. Good work. The mast looks good enough to my eye. I reckon you will have to careful in rigging to make sure you do not put too much pressure on it. Russ
