  1. Deck planking all completed, seven coats of sanding sealer sanded with finer paper inbetween each coat finishing with 0000 steel wool I have added the bolts ln the corners of all the grating coamings and now finishing the rear part of the waterway I promised the wife when I had finished the deck I will go back to working on the Sirius so this could be the last post about the cheerful for a while
  2. And the keel would be in between stopping the water getting from side to side, so two would be more efficient
  3. Started work on the waterways, curved scarph joints are a pain I'm using ottili wood for the waterways, I was given some sheets by friends who own a boat yard in Windsor (they are currently refurbishing the last Dunkirk vessel still afloat and supplied the boats for the recent Dunkirk film) its quite grainy but is a lovely colour
  4. Thanks Michael and for all the likes, I did think to have them working, opening and closing but with the frames at 1/32 it might be difficult I have added some hinges and opened one side, they will go up and down but will be very fragile and probably mot accessible when completed so I'm thinking to fasten one side and leave one open
  5. All deck furniture completed, now into waterways and then planking, I'm going to try and have the skylight windows opening
  6. Bolts added at the tip of the standards, bottom will be put in when fastened to the deck, ironwork added to the companionway, gratings also completed, I have simulated the bolts with pencil, only one though couldn't get two in there, I should be able to start deck planking soon
  7. Added the square holes through the wear strips and black bolts at the ends of each strip, companion way also started
  8. Also started on the bitts to hold the windlass, these will be painted red, but I'm not sure about the windlass itself whether to paint or not
  9. Added the wear strips to the windlass and gave a coat of sanding sealer
  10. Started making the windlass using druxeys instructions from the fireship comet book The ratchets are a major headache to cut, I had to make a small chisel to use on them
  11. A bit more done on the cheerful, both bulwarks finished and painted, stern post added and the caprail with a nice piece of mahogany I also added bolts through the caprail using black monofilament
  12. London presumably (not tower bridge ha)
  13. I found the best way to bend small planks is to leave them a lot longer ie twice as long, bend carefully with heat and then use the piece in the middle where you have the correct curve that you need Regards Paul
  14. Hi Jacek I'm not sure if its the pictures but the counter should also have a camber to match the decks, yours looks like it curves the wrong way and should be higher in the middle, similar to the picture of the surprise Alan has posted Regards Paul
