Congrats on the 10 years anniversary and to miles and miles more of ropemaking and selling thousands of thousands of blocks! 😉

I am starting a new topic as the last one just got huge....over 2000 replies.
Its fitting that I would do so today actually. Today marks ten years since I have started Syren. Its been a long and interesting journey. Ten years and miles and miles of rope made and thousands and thousands of blocks sold. Here's to the next ten years. Maybe not that long, LOL.
For a bit of news....I have finally received the parts to maintain my CNC Mill. So blocks are on tap over the next few weeks. In fact I have already started. 3/32" singles and doubles are now in stock. More will follow. Although half of the 3/32" singles already sold out. UGH!
Onward and upward as they say.

Chuck got a reaction from Saburo in WASHINGTON GALLEY by yamsterman - 1/48 scale - POF
Jeff is working on updating the plans and monograph. As soon as its complete I will post an an update along with the adjusted plans on the website. There really isnt much to say about it. The scarfs just need to be turned so they are now fully visible on the top and bottom of the keel rather than the sides. Stay tuned for the actual update.

I would absolutely change the direction of the scarf joints to what is more commonly acceptable. I looked over the plans very carefully before publishing as did others, and had made several recommendations for changes. This was actually one I had overlooked.
I will certainly make this a new recommendation to Jeff to possibly change it in the guide and plans for future printings. Nice catch. But I will talk to him and see where he is on the subject. But in my opinion, yes the scarfs should go in the other plain as is commonly seen.
Cheers,
Chuck

Almost 5 years to the day....she is finally finished. Always a bit anti climactic. Thank you all for following along all these many years. For those of you building her, I hope you are having as much fun with it as I did.
Well here goes the final pics. The top picture is of course of the Winnie contemporary model which inspired me as well as the Amazon. I hope I did them justice. Everyone should build a Georgian style model of an English frigate at least once in their lifetime.

Thanks, Chuck, JJ, and Glenn. Chuck, I agree with you 100%. One think I didn't mention was that I pinned everything except the chain pumps. After I figured out how to get the holes drilled in the right spot using masking tape, I've been a pinning maniac. I thought about pinning the chain pumps, but decided the risk of splitting the feet was not worth any benefit. I'm certain they're not going anywhere with the 1mm brass crank rod holding them down. I'm away from home for work this week and looking forward to building the elm pumps this weekend after I get home. I have my 7-10-7 marks on the 3/16"x3/16" boxwood strip, so I can start filing right away.
