Which company produced your Bluenose? I'm trying to finish up with my Bluenose by an old company named Scientific (no longer in business). I chose a solid hull kit to get my hands 'wet' with building a wooden model. On the side, I've got a Revell Connie that I've been slowly working on. I hope you can post some pics soon!

I'm fairly new to wooden ships but I'm starting work on Model Shipways HMS Bounty Launch. My plans call for cutting in my rabbit line after i have my keel assembled. As for the bulkheads, I believe those are beveled after all of them are in place. That's when you would take a plank and see how it would fit over those bulkhead edges in order to determine the appropriate sanding required. From what I've read, you should also use a sanding board that will cover the distance of two to three bulkheads at a time to get a uniform bevel. This is known as fairing. Sapphire - I chose the Model Shipways kit because this would be my 1st attempt at planking a boat. The parts that came with this kit are good quality in details. The kit includes 5 sheets of plans and an illustrated instruction manual to assist the build. Keep us informed and a good build on which ever one you choose!

Barely noticeable if it's by the fife rail and as for the ship, botch job this isn't. Very nicely done!

Richard - thanks for your post. I got a really good deal on Model Shipways Bounty launch. This will be my first attempt at a POF build. I picked up Model Shipways English Pinnace but it's deceiving. I will hone my skills with planking on the launch instead. Thanks again!

Tigersteve - I recall when you 1st started work on this boat. Your build on the Longboat was excellent and you had some reservation about this kit. Your talents have served you well! This is a wonderful build and glad to see it come together

Hello Antonio - sorry to see the vacuum-formed sails were damaged. A couple of my sails were pushed in as well. Luckily, I had no tears or punctures to my sails. As for painting, I always use a primer on all of my parts as an undercoat. It allows the paint to properly adhere to the surface. It also cuts done on 'bleed through' and having to use extra coats to cover surface. Depending on what I am trying to achieve, I will use white, grey or black primer before painting.
