  1. Welcome Rory to this wonderful site. There are some fantastic modelers in here and there is always someone willing to extend some positive advice when needed!
  2. It looks like it is coming along nicely. I know how you feel with learning new skills and redo's. I seem to be pulling off a few good ones This one's almost over and here's to your next build!
  3. BobF - spectacular build!!!! I want to thank Tigersteve for mentioning your build and he was correct to say it was one of the best. I purchased this kit for my first POF build but, after doing some research, I realized that I need to improve my skills before I tackle this. Thank you for posting this one and Congratulations!!!
  4. Your project is coming along nicely, considering a few little setbacks, but good recovery and all is well
  5. Jfinan - I think you've got the hang of it and this is the spot for your build photos. Keep up with the good work and I'm watching your build. I'm almost 2 years out now on my 1:96 Connie by Revell but also working on a Bluenose that's almost complete. Take your time and don't be afraid to ask questions or for advice. Someone in here will come to your rescue. Other modelers have helped me along my path. Smooth sailing and look forward to many more photos. Cheers!
  6. Hello Mark and a marvelous build!
  7. Welcome GTMIKE - It's good to see another 'Georgian' in here LOL I'm located in the Atlanta Metro area and started modeling when I arrived here in 2011. I'm fairly new to be giving any advice, but I looked up your kit and it looks like it could be a nice start. Minimal rigging and you get experience in planking a bulkhead rather than a frame. I am finishing up on my 1st wooden kit which came with a solid hull but involved a little more rigging. As far as ship terminology, I would look up a name or term on google for an answer, but the advantage of sites like this one is, there is always someone to help point a way or answer one's questions. Which ever model you decide to build as your first kit, enjoy what you are doing and take your time. Good adventures lie ahead for you I'm sure. Cheers!
  8. Welcome Andrew and here's to wooden modeling! I'm fairly new to this myself. You may want to check out a Harbor Freight for some supplies as well. Enjoy and have fun
  9. Welcome aboard Kip! Cheers
  10. Welcome! What a wonderful looking workshop
  11. I know your ordeals with having pets Our cat, properly named Monster, is a curious soul and likes to sit at the end of my work table and occasionally sticks a paw out to help. I walked away to answer the phone and when I returned, he had chewed thru several pieces of wood strips. I won't even go into thread!!! Congrats on finishing your Bluenose and will be watching this build take shape.
  12. A very good welcome!
  13. Welcome !!! Like so many that have already said, this site has great information and tips in here from many talented people on modeling a ship. Having a good sense of humor sure comes in handy when things take a turn! Enjoy and have fun
  14. Nat - sorry I can't help out with the plans but sure looking forward to watching your Connie come together I've been working on a Bluenose by Scientific. Maybe you can follow instructions by looking at a Revell Connie build in one of the websites if you cannot find Scientific plans. I also referred to a Bluenose practicum to help me along with details on my build. Please post some pics of your work - Cheers!!!
