  1. Excellent job so far! She is a real beauty. I'm looking forward to seeing her with all of her sails and glory!!! HaPpY HoLiDaYs!!!
  2. Popeye - It's been a while for me but I just wanted to wish you and your loved ones a HaPpY HoLiDaY and the best to you in 2018 ! Cheers!!!
  3. I've been busy and under the weather for a while, but your work that you are doing is something to be proud of. She is looking great!!! Good to see this and Good Holidays!!!
  4. Etubino - good find on the MS plans! In building my Scientific Bluenose, I bounced constantly from plans included with the kit and the Bluenose PDF file - especially for my decking fixtures. Between your two sets of plans, this should give you a wonderful build. Best to you.
  5. Best to you on this kit by Scientific. With a little research and time, these kits can turn out really well. I've been working on Scientific's model of the Bluenose and I'm really proud of how she looks. I'm working on her sails and rigging and hope to complete her soon. Look forward to seeing your progress. Cheers!
  6. I picked my copy up on Ebay for around $40.00. Great buy and I prefer to have an actual 'book' in my hand over looking at a screen. Just my feedback.
  7. Some incredible woodworking! If it wasn't noticeable on the scale, it looks like your designing real furniture. Great work Bob!!!
  8. Alex - looks like you're off to a good start. I go along with DCooper's point on 'getting bogged down' on how she looks. Each of us has their own method of madness with a build. I have tried to keep mine close to the 1812 version with what skills and research I've made, but I have also taken liberties to make her mine. Keep at it and look forward to seeing more progress. Cheers!
  9. She's coming along nicely. I worked on Lindberg's Cap'n Kidd pirate ship and I almost threw it at the wall to end my misery on three different occasions. The bow of the ship was so badly warped, I just hacked it off in order to move on. So many of the parts had a terrible fit, especially the aft end. Ton's o putty! They'ed be great little kits if they could improve on the molds.
  10. Avast matey! Now thar be's a fine lookin' ship, if I do says. That flat black wash does her wonders. Lookin' forward to seein's her completed and ready to put to sea.
  11. "Aye - 'tis a fine looking ship". I think the hull will look fantastic once she has paint on her. I really like the cannon shot holders around the coamings and the deck looks great.
  12. Landlubber Mike - many thanks for putting together a very concise post on how to make furled sails for people like myself who are fairly new to modeling. Very clear instructions and great pictures that go along with your steps. Many Thanks!!! Cheers on this post!!!
  13. Jeremy - Ahoy! Ahoy aboard 'n look fore t' yer adventures!
  14. Cedric - welcome in to this site!!!
  15. It's coming along - Duncbe's tip and link is good advice. I'm new at building a wooden kit and I will be trying my hand at planking a hull with my next project. I picked up 'Planking the Built-Up Ship Model' technical guide book by Jim Roberts put out by Model Shipways. Someone suggested it to me to read and it has some valuable information along with photos and diagrams. Besides all of that, I'm following along with your project. More rum and another plank!
  16. I hope it's that easy and I get the same results when my turn comes. It's coming along nicely!
  17. She looks wonderful in this display case. I like how the natural wood stand compliments the wood on the boat. Bravo!
