  1. All 18 guns are now carved. It’s time to add a cascabel and eyebolt to each of them. Then I’ll add the pivot point to each of them and both the guns and the carriages will get painted.
  2. I’m up to 12 x 12 lb Carronades and 2 x 9 lb Long Guns: 2 more long 9’s and 2 long 12’s to go
  3. I’m still working on the Prince de Neufchatel. I’m in the process of making cannon and giving the Prince de Neufchatel some teeth. I’ve definitely learned a lot from the build. I’m still planning on scratch building the rest of the Victory. I’ve been through the AOTS for the Victory a number of times and I don’t see anything that looks too difficult with the exception of the figurehead, but I’ve been practicing my carving. We’ll see how it goes when I get back to the Victory.
  4. The first of the 9 lb. cannon: It’s far from perfect, but once it’s painted, it’ll be just fine. By the way, all guns are going to have glass seed beads glued to their breeches for cascabels along the getting the breech eyebolts for the breeching rope. The last picture is after I sanded it to clean it up a bit.
  5. I have a few pieces of cedar to use for the rest of the Victory’s carvings and for the Triton. I’ve learned a lot since running through the carving tutorials, but these were an excellent starting point.
  6. All eighteen carriages are ready to take their guns. Now, I just have to make them. I think that I will try carving them first, from a dowel rod. If I don’t like how that goes, I will try chucking said dowel rod in a drill and making a makeshift lathe. But, carving sounds safer, so I will try that first.
