I'm great at procrastinating, sitting in front of my model, thinking of what needs to be done, ending up doing nothing
Don't feel like the lone ranger, I do it all the time............. seem's like.

What ever you are going to build, start with knowledge of hull planking. Read the pdf simple hull planking for beginers. http://modelshipworldforum.com/ship-model-framing-and-planking-articles.php

It is almost a certainty that even model kits that claim to exactly replicate full-scale construction details will be "customized" for modeling purposes and contain parts which have been prefabricated or omitted. Obviously, if construction corners haven't been cut and assembly simplified, what's the point of a "kit?" Anybody can obtain plans and buy wood and string. (And any small fittings one might desire are readily available from any number of sources.) I'm not knocking kits, which are a great way to get started in modeling, but building a kit to build a model really bears very little resemblance to building a full-size boat. There'd be no point to a kit if it did.
AMEN.🙂

Shipwrights have to start somewhere.. 😃
I'm reminded of some wisdom from the late, great George Carlin, who observed:
" There was a time when no one knew how to play the piano. They were all practicing. "
In practicing, you make mistakes........ make mistakes on a full size vessel and you will sink.

Is it a scale planking kit or a beginers planking kit ?

Looking at the pic's Jo......... their is a big distance between bulkheads at midship........ if the distance from bulkhead to bulkhead is 2" or more....... your planks will dimple and rise in those area's....... as you can see on the hull of my 1st build. you could make 2 bulkheads out of 1/8" balsa wood and that would give you the backing you need.

I think she will return, and post photo's of the completed vessel, to close out her log.

Good suggestions, thanks for that. I'm going to try warm/hot water first and then the hair dryer if the water doesn't work.
YES get it hot and instantly put it in the refrigerator freezer leave it in there for 30 min the quick cooling retains the memory of it.

Pertty soon you will be into the rigging. somebody on this site posted this link........ it's nice....... you can freeze each frame to see exactly how to go over & under with your line, to make the knot.😉 https://www.animatedknots.com/complete-knot-list

Yeah, i remember building some motorcycles, it was like working on a fish out of the water......... at least for me it was.😄 i used testors metalizer on an F-102 a couple years ago........ and the stuff makes plastic look like real metal . don't know if you are aware of it, you want to go with the bottel'd buffing. you can see more about it on youtube. you can't use metalizer over enamel paint. metalizer is lacquer, it will react like paint stripper on the enamel.

I think that model would have look'd better, if he had the flag on it......... after all he has crew members deck side....... of course the way it is say's it's in combat mode. but having the flag makes the statement to anybody. that this is a wwII german u boat.
