Mark your right about learning from each other, I find I learn more foremothers (from others, stupid keyboard...) mistakes and how they fixed them than I do anything else short of actuall hands on. Now if only I could make some time for hands on myself..... Sam

Woo Hoo!!!! Finally a bit of progress!. When we last spoke work was getting in the way of life. Our Holiday work binge culminated in an 18 hour day followed by a 4 hour nap at a local hotel then another 16 hours to complete the install. A two hour power nap then a drive home a night rest and off to the Bay area for Xmas. In the midst of the 12/7 day work weeks my long suffering G5 died, what little MSW I could get was via cell phone. Needles to say not much was accomplished build-wise. Happily everything is back to normal in my world (SNAFU!! ) I have been busily stoping blocks and pre frapping training tackle so not much to show there. I did manage to find some water clear epoxy at a fishing store based on the recommendations here: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/8921-casting-epoxies-from-smooth-on/page-2 Justnow I finished "glazing" my quarter windows. I think its going to work out well; it better, I really don't want to make any more window frames for this build. I used a product called High Build rod wrapping finish from Flex Coat. It dries crystal clear and even comes with graduated syringes for dispensing the correct amounts of resin and hardener. One nice thing about this stuff is the work time you have, a mixed amount about the size of a US quarter - about 1ml was workable for a good 20 minutes before it started to thicken. My thermostat in the hall next to my work area is set at 68 degrees (20c) I glued a bit of clear styrene to the back with some plastic-zap and then mixed up my epoxy and added a bit of testers white enamel to cloud the glass a bit. All that time searching for a water clear epoxy and I go and add paint to it! Go figure. I found a tiny bit flowed across the styrene and then a larger drop would flow and fill the opening nicely, after I filled all the openings I went back and added just a bit more as I was noticing some shrinkage. The picture below is right after filling the last opening. You can see the openings I just filled have curved just a bit already, the flatter looking areas are the areas I did last. I used the Better Halves hair dryer to remove the 2-3 bubbles that had not flowed out yet - SHHHHHH! Don't tell her! There was 5-10 minutes between finishing and taking a picture. Afterwards into the oven with just the pilot light on. Thats all the news thats fit to print, the better half is out for the day so I am going to go and see how many more blocks I can strop before she comes home and wants to partake in some "Domestic Bliss" AKA House Cleaning............ Sam

All, Sorry for my silence lately, work has been .......interesting the last few weeks. Lots of great information here and I will be doing some 'speramentin after the holidays. For the opaic/cloudy look I like the ideas shown, much more hobby friendly then calcium carbonate we used on a larger project in the recent past. Sam

Kp, I am with the others, a very unique build. Nice save in the paint although I didn't see anything wrong with it myself. For your main guns, is it too late to add LEDs or concussion waves in the water? There are some great air shots of the Missouri firing a full broad side for reference. Just a thought. I think the library would be very happy to have this. Sam
