  1. "aside from resorting to the use of a two stage epoxy, I have yet to find a suitable cement for it." I used UHU on both Smit Rotterdam and Smit Nederland, which worked rather well, if I may say so
  2. "There appears to be quite a bit of extra length behind the collar." On my plastic build I had to take some lengths off the brass turrets too (nearly 2 cm!) so that doesn't make me wonder
  3. I wonder if the Bismarck was built in the Orient ... i.e. considering all the roofs ... "Luckily next week is the last one to deal with this particular section for a while." So you can start on another set of roofs ?
  4. When you find them, let me know where I can get a pair!!! Now Slog mentionned it, I wondered what that ridge/ring was for ... but the difference in scale = 1/200 vs my plastic 1/350 - put me off too ... so much more details ...
  5. Dennis, According to Evans' Waka Taua, most were painted red (shark liver oil & either red ochre or burnt karamea clay pg35)
  6. I prefere the Very Old Gouda (the one with salt christals in it ) a very old farmer's cheese from around Gouda would be even better ... I cannot imagine sculpy being like that ...
  7. Just one I broke three, but my hull was/is resin, does that give me any credits when I buy a new set!?!?
  8. The Holiday season is nearing ... which is a bit dual ...
  9. You are quite accomplished at soldering Mark. I wouldn't have tried to solder stainless steel though ... still wonder if such a weld would hold at all ... so maybe it is a bit of luck it isn't stainless Cheers
  10. If this planking is not your definite layer, you need not be very accurate. A smooth finish would do, the run of the planks is less important. like this The final layer defines the look and feel of the hull in the end. If the final layer, you will have some steelers e.a. to make
  11. Nice idea though Vossie. You can watch a flying example in the last revision of the Three Musquetiers movie
  12. It does, as a few other brands do. Actually, TS17 and XF16 ... may be what you need see chart Tamiya Colour Chart.pdf
  13. Have a good look at ladders, and things which needs to be installed first as other bits will run over them ... I made that mistake, and I seem to see rungs crossed bij those horizontal rails/rungs or whatever you call them ... I like those louvres better than the pontos part. Although, I wouldn't know if it is better in view of contemporary usage or not
  14. You might try a sheet of thin paper in front of your working lights to diffuse the light ... looks pritty spiffy though
  15. Nice work, Dan, how did you cut out the ring itself, what I see the punch doesn't meet that circumference ...
