Does the lower part slide in between the upper parts sides? What I mean is is the upper part a U form or just a plain strip. If a U form, you can have an etched part with two folds, you can still use your nut and bolt thing, and you can solder the lower part to the upper part for strength, or use a pin to fix them together- 993 replies

Well then, you are way quicker than me. Last week I did 1.5 tripple AA guns in 2.5 hours ... I have 27 in total ... about a week and a half work I'd say. Just couldn't finish the job then as I got meself a nasty flu, sneezing and coughing doesn't seem to help much with those parts. So don't sweat it. You just get to spend a wee bit more time on your model!!

HAve them made so you can fold them in two for strength. On my builds with PE there are quite a few parts which are folded (not for strengt, but for the look of strength) It is easier to etch a thin sheet, than a thicker one, at least if you need to get holes ... Cheers- 993 replies

Thanks Scott. You seem to forget that my glue blotches are far bigger than yours 1/350 vs 1/200 Wish him well from me! Cheers

I was just about to ask whether you could build this kind of vessel easier, considering your hands, than the plastic ones ...

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
