  1. Sam, Rats ... the stay, it depends on where and by whom the rigging was done. If you've got her rigging plan, it is quickly solved, else it might as well be: Take your pick. The mouse ... why do you need a mouse with all those rats? ... I wouldn't use wood for the mouse but some sort of epoxy/plastic. Paint it black, and after weaving it onto the stay, you won't see the material it is made from anyway. Pat (Banyan) has a nice tutorial on weaving it, but I presume you already know. She does look nice without all the clutter Cheers
  2. Thanks, John, but that is when the port turns counter clockwise and the other side clockwise. What I meant, is it standard that the shafts turn for the port counter, and starboard clockwise?
  3. It would depend on the rotation direction I presume ... that is a standard too for port/starboard?
  4. You really got the hang of that pointilism, Dan. Very impressive. You got the colouring spot on. I certainly couldn't get the folding and rolling done as meticulous as you did.
  5. Graag gedaan Shoosh (Your welcome). Stupid questions do exist!?!?!? A universe opens up for me, or is mine tumbling down upon me You are right, quite a few Dutchies around, but water and ships seem to attract them Perhaps your husband likes the silence, he must be a silent buider too ... not much sound of tools, etc. I hope you will make a lot of noise building. We will see her finished in no time. There are some marvelous plastic kits build at MSW, although, a lot more modern, like battleships e.a., but you can still learn a lot from those blokes. Some of them are really intricate and when adding PE (photo etch) it gets even more difficult. Looking forward to your build log Cheers
  6. Welcome to MSW Shoosh, I don't know if it is a build you really want to start with, but at least yo've got something to set your teeth in!! I don't need to get ready, I'm already amazed ... TO start questions, you'd probably want to start a build log, in your case in the Build Logs for Model Kits section. I recomend reading the following Howto. It will make expectations from the admins lighter Not much more to say then Have a ball, enjoy your build, remember: Stupid questions do not exist. Cheers
  7. Although it may seem small, you did quite some work to accomplish that. Marvelous details, Greg.
  8. You could try to print a template. Cut out the letters, and paint over it. The only problematic letters are those like 'O', and 'A', but it will make life easier Another option: Glypha Light standard. It has the J you want, and is is a serif font. Got the font file if you need it
  9. Which gaps Looks spiffy. Seems you need to build a jig to attach a bilge keel ... unexpected for a paper model
  10. You can heat up the tar, caulking time is nearing ... your hull is becoming a thing of beauty, Russ ... you are certain you won't leave her unpainted?
  11. Danny, Abit late though. As the print is made up of paint dots, you could do the same with a small hard brush. Start with the yellow ochre, and finish with the red. There used to be painters which applied this technique (pointillism), which might get you the result you are looking for ... just a thought ... but you know how it is with me, all scrambled up Cheers
  12. Jason, Considering the shape of the font of e.g. HMS Victory, I would sooner go for Baskerville, if you need the font, let me know
  13. It looks like that went a lot smoother than your first, smaller, wheel. Very nice Gerhard.
  14. How do you skin a rabbit, Dan. Put on his fur coat? Your hull turned out rather nicely, better than what I would make. When looked at from a normal distance we probably won't see a gap at all. Cheers
  15. A belated congratulations Jason. Hope you have had a memorable day. Jason's stern is coming out rather nicely. Those rails will hide the joins rather well
  16. Good (re)start, Nenad. Sometimes scraping with a sharp object (e.g. a knife) can give you a sharper edge, whilst sandpaper makes a softer edge. You have to be very careful on soft wood though
  17. Glad you are well. Take it easy next week!
  18. Sorry to hear you didn't have time to touch the build, i.e. sorry for us followers, now we have to wait even longer for your next update However, I do hope everything is alright with you and your family!!!
  19. Trial and error as usual, Gerhard. With a little perseverance one can reach one's goal, as you have shown!
  20. That last post isn't something to like. Hope it isn't very serious, i.e. the surgery. I quit sucking on sticks 7 1/2 years ago. I got floored by a pneumonia, which made it easy for me, else I would still be smoking like a Mississippi river boat ... having a fag and coffee for brekkie. As I'm not much for a bear (but for size) the bride can poke what she wants ... maybe I get something done this week as the weather is changing into cats and dog stuff ... Let me know when they will carve you up, and if they made a decent job of it. You could bring your ow CA if they plan to glue you back together again Cheers mate
  21. Admiral interference !!! Certainly no static ... chores, should be nice if those were shipyard related, but oddly enough they never are ... Shouldn't have mentioned my back was doing better!
