  1. Where did you get that giant lighter ? Looks far to good for rough works!
  2. Michael, It is not up to me to approve, I can merely give my thoughts/insights on the matter at hand, and hope those may be of use to you. I am very impressed with the way you have been tackling challenges.
  3. Nice fix on the deck and side, Michael. Question on the area you removed. You cut at straight angles, I would have expected angled cuts (45 .. 72.5 deg), as it should be easier to fit and the join would be easier to hide.
  4. Is it possible to push the B pins in when you mount the side to the main deck. I.e. you have the pins fitted to the side at a slight angle to allow pushing them in straight, then you push the side straight and fixate it to the lifeboat deck
  5. Nice carving. Your "fleurs de lis" are looking great. A pitty that griphon got the ends of his extremities amputated
  6. Sorry to highjack your log, Greg OC, These batlleships have been in and out harbour during their existence to improve and add to their armament and radar, They have changed and added quite a few bits and pieces in the last two years alone e.g.: Anti aircraft armament and radar
  7. Incredible detail, well done ... glad you didn't feed your carpet monster
  8. Tony, I think glue is a very personal preference, so I just let you use your epoxy. It was merely interest. I do understand the reason, and subsequently the need to apply it
  9. It depends on the accessability of the rings. If you can do it afterwards, I would go for that option for the blocks won't bother you while mounting the rings. If it is very difficult to attach the blocks after gluing the rings, I would try mounting them beforehand When drilling through the rail, it just depends on the visibility of the underside. If it is merely a question of the pins protruding underneath, cut the pins to the required length ... I cannot imagine the opening in the underside of the rail to be visible ... It is after all a model, so you've got some leeway with these things
  10. Since you are going to airbrush, you don't need to wait, you can put your details on, unless they need a different colour ...
  11. So with your trousers at your ankles, you were sanding lustily ... Thank you for tip about the belt, I'll have to get some suspenders as replacement
  12. I wouldn't know about the central support, it would make turning easier, if you would use a limb like construction as for the arms. Since you get more sides "underneath", you could use three locking screws, which could be used depending on the position of the limb, or the most accessable position of the locking screw. It would give the somewhat heavy limb a bit of (counter) ballance ... just a thought ... I love the design, it has a very solid quality about it ...
  13. Mike, A truely lovely build, I see a sister paddler on the wall, so you have experience still she looks magnificent!!
  14. Greg, I've got the same model, still on hold -trying to get some motivation to continue and a lot of other things on my mind - I didn't use a single nail (there weren't any in the kit either). I used push pins and rubber bands for both layers. Will you start a log? Cheers
  15. Quite so Mike, and a single bottle won't do either ... Robin you'll be parched before you're halfway through
  16. Go with the flow ... the wood will tell you what to do I wish you good fortune making the oars. A good decision to make them all in succession See yah (in a week's time???) Cheers
  17. As long as you don't break them ... Thinning the looms further .... I really am curious if you'll manage easily
  18. Can't imagine how that first one disappeared, Igor. You made both anchors even smaller than you got it as PE delivered. That's about two matchstick heads high You that with the help of a pair of pliers right?
