What's a mere 4" on your scale ... a measly 1/8". Well you have always been a big spender, haven't you now ... It is looking great, I see the Deathstar hasn't passed by the timbers yet. Better to find out the mistake than not at all. At least you can correct it from hereon. As long as you make the mistakes, we do not have to make them, although, we still might

So why do you make 2mm square holes. Those pins will fall through ...??? Even a greater feat, Robin. But it's 38 mmm

I believe the 3.5 cm when you get a ruler alongside it. When I look at it and use the pins at 2mm I would sooner calculate it 70mm. Even if it is that size, It is still a jolly good piece of work. The square holes is a feat on itself

Nearly went cold turkey ... bujt you made up for it! Your seats turned out rather spectacular. I don't think I will take a chance getting some rays on that sun deck, not with the double engine

Nenad, You could use some plastic, and paint in in a beige weathered look. If you use cloth the weave of the material will probably be to course for the scale you build, as you wrote ...

Looks pretty good, Steven. If you have zoom on your camera, try a bit more distance and zoom in. Sometimes that makes just the difference ...

Greg, The internet drives me nuts from time to time. Even when you type in an identical search you might end up with different results altogether. Such a wealth(?) of information, it is hard to make a choice. The only advise I can give you when you startup your airbrush. Take your time. Practice, and practice some more, and when you think you've got it .... you certain foul a piece Get some blu-tack to keep small items from sliding/being blown away by the airflow. Even an 20mm gun with it's mount will move around

Nice work Elijah. Don't start with "The fore deck is a lot less crowded, so I don't think it will take long." You should take the time needed, you are not in a rush, it's not F1, or Indy 500 (to keep it in your neck of the woods) have fun

Digital, is still about light, mate. I know some forum posts (not msw though) with weathering of ships if you are interested. Have to look them up, but that's no bother ...

Very nice work Jason, although, I have my reservations about the flipped windows. Some considerations: - On your second image from the top they look wide, and low compared to the windows enclosing them - on you last image, the central window looks tall and narrow compared to those besides her Cheers

So far very informative, and impressive. Great build to follow. Do you use Tamiya paints and putty allways, or different brands too? Up to superstructure and turrets? When I look at her, she seems larger than the kit I have. Can't wait to start her, but had some central heating problems to fix last weekend.

Hello Simon, I would first fill, and then sand. You might need to add filler after the first sanding, and re-sand, maybe even a third time ... Cheers

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
