  1. Brian, If it is laminated wood, you'll probably end up with several sheets of wood if you steam or dunk them into water
  2. Maybe he has a manual ... Very beautiful steering wheel and fittings, Johann. It is one of those things which tends to fade into the background with all the other superb elements you make, and show us ... so much to see
  3. Kees, Marcus should be able to read Dutch, something in his genes Thanks for mentioning the book. I'll have a look around too, interesting Cheers
  4. You really go for it, Gerhard. It looks like the real deal. Very impressive ...
  5. Forgot to ask ... Do you get your lightsabre and warp drive before Xmas, or do you/we need to wait all that time ...?
  6. Ouch!! The Deathstar didn't realise it shouldn't die on itself!!! So much for hightech ... a lot of thech, far to high to be safe. Be glad USS Visa didn't sink, which cannot be said for EU Visa. We'll just have to wait a bit longer on your handcrafted planking
  7. Sorry to hear about its premature demise, OC. Then we'll have to make do with what you've got. A pitty though, now your marvelous details are a bit fuzzy
  8. OC, If you want to show off with your details, you'll need to improve on your picture quality. At least macro I can't take my eyes out, I can only add a layer to them ... You must have very sensitive fingers
  9. Nice dust free compartment. You can stow some large parts in there, Kees. Even LED lighting inside!!! Good progress on the triplets too.
  10. bunny1954 ( ) beat me to it, but you might consider adding a pair of stronger eyes to your own. It will certainly ease the headaches and the pressure on your eyeballs. I know it did for me! I don't know how Greg and you do it, but my eyes would be bursting by now ... Cheers
  11. A very clear "sea" Igor. You shouldn't be called IgorSky, but IgorSea. Your waves are coming out very good. Looks very promising!!
  12. Couldn't imagine making and adding the turrets and small guns in advance would be useful, considering their location. They probably would make it harder to work with/on the other elements for the superstructure At least I know now I'll be getting PE muscle tone hardly visible, but I can brag about it
  13. Good progress on that funnel, you still have quite a bit to add there. Is it very fiddly or easy does it? Cheers
  14. It probably will hide it, as it won't go deep in the wood as stain does. You'll might need a few thin layers to get the proper darkness
  15. You mean your little corner! Actually, it isn't yours anymore since your daughter took possession You can use either acrylic, or oil based often diluted with white spirit. Acrylic dries fast without a retardent, oil based needs a longer time to cure. both have their ad- and disadvantages. A matter of practice and I presume preference ...Im getting a go at acrylic, since I've not worked with it before. I've worked with oil, gouache, water colour, the model oil paints. So far I do like the acrylic, but it has it's limitations, as does any type of paint. You should take into account that wooden boat building is not just about the wood, metal fittings, and cordage, but paint and stains too probably pains to you You'l find a way! IT is so much easier ...
  16. Welcome a board (a bit late though) For a first build you've blown me off me socks, Blockplane. Your build looks superb. (A minor translation error: Chaloupe Armee En Guerre => Longboat armed for war) Cheers
  17. Still lots of eye candy to come our way!!! Looks promising. You seem to have straightened the deck pretty good daddyrabit1954 P.s. I'm strongly considering to call you bunny ... your nickname wears my fingertops away ...
  18. Visible at this 1930 bow view ... di you know this page: http://www.steinbergs.co.uk/history/HMS_Warspite.htm right bottom image shows more ...
