  1. You started my weekend off with a smile. Looking good Dick, very nifty
  2. The dance of the model builder ... I'm missing the tune of Prokofiev's Dance of the Knights though, and see the oerlikons sway on the music .. Nice 3D, you found the website they've. got some real beautiful parts for 200/350/....etc If you don't want flat brass guns for example, or you managed to bomb your careful constructed ones, you might have a look there like OC did
  3. Sounds like Dutch GO's Take your time Ron, do what's important first. You've had some interesting solutions
  4. (You didn't do to bad Sjors, lets hope Piet finds the same ) Thanks for the ride my friend. A very memorable build, which I will certainly reread.
  5. Kevin you've got a choice out of 50 shades of grey ... intricate build ...
  6. Tell that the Admiralty, they sent them round the North Cape ... Thought the first streaks were hard ... toned them down ... now beneath the gloss they are even harder ... they will brobably tone down after the flat laquer has been applied
  7. Have you tried switching searchengine ... you might have a few different posts between the engines on the same search criteria
  8. Filling up nicelyOC. You should have tried at least 1 whole PE gun ... do you have bluetack, you can pick up small itens with it quite good ... just press the bluetack on it and you'll lift it, first make thebluetack warm with your hands, so it adheres better ... diminishes tweezer consumption and saves you the time grinding your tweezers
  9. Just back from convoy duty on the North route to Murmansk ... low on paint and far to low temperatures to paint ...
  10. Added some "horizontal rust" ... and some subsurface level rust. When it's somewhat less hot than 35ºC we've got I'll get the lacquer out ... prepping for the next stage. Battery charged ... which means ... (Yesterday) (Today) Daylight makes a lot of difference too ...
  11. What do you mean by blending, there is hardly ever blending with camouflage ...?
  12. Unless you can get a reference to the colour like the royal navy has - to a certain degree - or someone whom may be considered knowledgeable (I found there are no experts, although some pretend to be) you are fine, like RGL wrote in the previous post. I read an interesting bit on painting on another site, which said that because of the scale we will change the colour's shade to make it more realistic, so don't bother to much about it
  13. Thank you for the likes and comments gents. Yesterday evening I rubbed the rust a bit down, and added the horizontal streaks. The latter I'll finish this evening. No pictures yet, battery pack empt .p.t..p..t...p...t....p.....p. So hopefully this evening. After that ... glossy varnish and up to the salt encrustation (Received HMS Eskimo last Saturday ... I'll have to look into the other WWII RN destroyer types, need to alter her bowline as well, like the other hull I've got)
  14. A long and challenging journey, Michael, and the result ... I wouldn't be surprised she looks better than before with all the TLC you have given her. I hope she'll be out of the dark, into the spotlight soon
  15. So you are human after all! Now you know what we mere mortals have to deal with on a daily basis ... So the grubby light grey is your "default" colour, and now you are setting up the dark grey, since one usually works from light to dark. If you want to match the camouflage, you can scan and print the example and use that as a template ... makes life a lot easier ... maybe even less traumatic ...
  16. Finished the primer on the deck furniture, added some shading, although I'll need to do some more, after that the first coat of grey. In the mean time I've been adding some rustOpowder to the hull, today the horizontal streeks, add some to the bow and it's lacking between a midships and stern on both sides, but that'll have to wait until the deck gets populated, need to add some softness to some of the "blobs" ... after the rust, another layer of flat varnish, then the salt streaks ... that should be interesting ...
  17. As far as I noticed, you did it quite quickly, despite the large surface ...
  18. Well, so it seems we all have our idiosyncracies, it is not just upabove, but downunder too
  19. OC, You have to work your way down the stairs when you pop them up, else you'll be pushing the previous down. If you push that one up again, you have a fair chance it breaks off ... learned that one the hard way ... If I can get to the steps easily after they have been glued down, I do it in position with a #11 Swann & Morton blade, works like a charm too, i.e. for me
  20. Nice. I like the effect you accomplished with the chipping fluid
