  1. Thanks Boyd, it still will take some time before I can mount the railings........., but here, upfront, is a little hand scetch how I intend to do so. This is what my thoughts are circling about..... Probably I`ll have to solder the railing stripes to the brass L-profiles and the cap rails and final-paint them prior to mounting on the ship Nils scetch showing an outcut of the forecastle deck, the railing will be three or four wire only...
  2. Congrats Bob, to the completion of your good looking Dragon model.... Have you already given her a Name, other than Dragon Class II ? Nils
  3. thanks to Patrick and Piet, for the nice appreciations.... and all the "likes" Patrick, all portions where there is no Access to later on have to be fitted out for final Appeal... Piet, the decks work out quite well with the pencil caulking to the edges, and because the supplier of the "Planks" to my pleasure can cut them very precise Nils
  4. Thanks very much Martin, I have now made the forecastle deck, planked it and put it on permanently, further the anchor tubes dry fitted in with flanges on the sides. Some days ago I bought some photo etched copper railing stripes (5 wire plus handrail). Will need to do some trials how to fasten these best. The stripes are only 8mm high (scale 1:144) Nils the forecastle deck planked with 2mm wide and 0,8 mm thick stips of pinewood raw fit, the flange base for the deck side tube ends I think these stripes can be soldered to L-typ profiles and then fixed to the edges of the deck-planking a view under the forecastle deck....
  5. fantastic micro J-Yacht Igor, How many SIB have you built to date, do you give them away afterwards ? That`s a beautiful Flacon also Nils
  6. excellent work Dan, amazing your use of printing Details of the superstructure and positioning These per decals, all Looks very precise and well thought over. The combination of Wood, styrene, printed Sheets, and etched parts really open fine mini-scale possibilities. These techniques may be tempting for others....., thanks for sharing Nils
  7. Thanks Bob, that was one of those "flash-Ideas" I had during lunch today, seeking for a way to pin down the deck without making pinholes into it, as Long as the glue cures, but it`s only a dry fit in the moment Nils
  8. Thank you Denis, I`m just working on the forecastle anchor / chain tubes (6 mm brass tubes), they will have to be faired and equipped wih flanges to sides and deck afterwards, but have to be dry fitted now in case some adjustments have to be made inside the ship. The forecastle deck comprises 3 shaped parts.... The scetch (partial section) shows the arrangement of the other decks, at least how I intend to do them Nils Little update :
  9. very nice work Dan, I like the way you did the inner bulwark (forecastle) and printed paper decks. all superstructure and related details are coming on very well Nils
  10. Ed, super accurate planking Job.... the wood filling between the Frames Shows the benefit of this method when using tacks with wide heads to fix plank positions (without penetrating the Planks) Very nice Pictures also, thanks for sharing..... Nils
  11. Meisterhaft Karl, what a pleasure to see this beautiful handcraft work... Nils
  12. many thanks to Mike and Michael, and all the "likes" Mike, with the lifeboats (how to make) I have to start thinking about at an early stage, because the final solution, resp. improvement / changes is still pending, same as with the many vents on the decks, These I would like to make from metal Michael, thanks for your nice words, and welcome to the build log (s) Nils
  13. Thank you Crackers, I`m momentarily in Progress of evaluating if I should rather plank the Long Promenade deck side-portions first, ( it would be easier to handle), or to glue on These raw-deckparts, to the hull and do the planking later Nils
  14. Very nice Fitting out Chef, the winch and the crank-pumps on deck look great.... Nils
