Excellent and skilled handcraft work Amalio, you sure know what you`re doing there !! Nils -
Thanks so much for your nice and kind comments, Bob, John, Greg and Piet, Bob, think you`re right,I really enjoy having the models around and in sight view... John, Thanks very much, now the journey is gently coming to the end... Greg, I was still in school when the first simple models got started. At that time there was no money for buying kits and so all attemps were made with scratch built models. Most of those models went lost or were somehow destroyed after all those years. Those that could be saved to a certain degree of staus to date, are shown on the enclosed pics.... Piet, I`m pleased you enjoyed the developement and build of the KWdG so far, its been quite some experience to get there.... Nils here some earlier models..., many years ago... a little pond boat for my son, when he was 3 years... This is from a Billing Boats kit (French Thunny long line fisher) Billing Boats kit (not finished) Bluenose this and the forestanding pic...., schooner America, scratch built for RC sailing, but meantime sold... Hull Endeavor for RC sailing built in lead keel (3,5 Kg), meantime sold This was a great RC sailor, its built after the 2,5 times enlarged lines of Billings Thunny fisher, standing around rigg damaged and channel ripped off on stb. side Billings Cux 87 shrimp fisher, never finished, dustcatcher, standing around, waiting for better times to come motorized RC , scratch built Pilot Cutter 30 Ft, after the lines of the actual Cornish Crabbers Pilot cutter, not completed yet

Hi Rob, thanks very much for your kind words and your compliment, much appreciated,... Also many thanks to the "likes" for clicking on.... As I have answered to Dan already, you and all who are following this log are very wellcome, and I`m so pleased the model is liked so much... I`ve been asked already many times where she will be displayed and can nominate a preliminary place on a shelf of my hobby room in our cellar, below the "Heinrich Kayser" steamship where the presently standing river tug "Lorbas" will be removed to somewhere else. I think the KWdG will deserve a more exponated display area in the house later on, but in the moment I unfortunately ca`nt serve with the ignitial idea where... To answer your question, where the other models are displayed, ....... they are all on display within their glass cases in my hobby room Nils The "HMS Pegasus" stand plate bares two identical nameplates so the glass case can alternatively be turned 180° to also display the closed side of the hull. As the sails are braced about 45 ° one would be looking at more dominating sail area from the other side as well, whilst the here shown side gives more view to the entire rigging Here I also have my work desk for the lesser sawdust producing work. The models are all illuminated by spots from the ceiling the shelves are self made, and have to be well fixed to the wall with rigid supports in order to take the weight of the glass casings in the upper left of the pic a door to the small bathroom in the background can be seen. My hobby room was originally planed and used as a guest room

Hi Bob, I`m sure with your skill and confidence in pushing away that "dark damage cloud" you will overcome that accident and already be well on the way of mending the broken concerned parts, a super model out of your yard, as usual.... Nils

Update all 24 boats mounted and with attatched falls. The collapsible boats (3 story) are a bit higher above deck, so those davits had to be made new Nils The first and the second boat get spacer lugs for mounting the boat on top The supports for the oars, the seatings and the floor planks are mounted already (only for upper boat) in total there are 4 boat types ( four large, open ones, two smaller open ones, twelve large closed ones, and six collapsible ones)

thanks very much for your word Jason,... probably I`ll put the KWdG on display in my hobby room, together with the other models, thats not too bad. I have now agreement with the admiral that it can be set up in the living area, but there is absolutely no more adequate space, and she`s right there.... Nils

Build log part 60... Update, making the "collapsible" lifeboats... These are shorter, flatter and a bit narrower than the larger lifeboats. The appearance is more that of a "river barge", but the capacity is just like the that of the larger boats. The hardshell-part untill slightly above the waterline is made in wood, and clinker planked. The side flexible textile / canvas bulwark is shown in collapsed mode, in order to staple two or three boats under the last pair of davits in the total boats row. The raw mini models (I´m doing 6 of them) are made in the well proven way with silicone mold and resin castings...... Nils Shape of the collapsible boats, (here still without shaped interior area) "Clinker planking" resembled with 3mm wide stripes of aluminium foil tapering the the overlapping stripes to the ends making a mold for the outer shape hull here the plug for the outer shape Here the plug for the interior shape This is the second plug for the interior contours of the boat, resin cast in between outer skin and interior plug raw, collapsible boat compared with the size of the the larger boats result : raw cast boat hull.... three story high, will put some additional spacer / supporting lugs under second and third boat

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
