  1. Thanks Bug, it's nice to be able to look at the real thing. Both for inspiration but also to learn how these ships were constructed. /Matti
  2. Cheers! Yeah they are truly great at the museum. I'd love to enter the real ship, but it's only few who get that chance. Considering how hard it is to make her survive it's a good thing though. /Matti
  3. Hi, did some work on kranbalkarna. Also started on the front railing. BB based their railing on the Landström book, wich has a shield and is built straight. The original has no shield and is built with a curve. I will try to build mine like the original. First reference I took at the museum: And then my model. I dryfitted the railing base, so it sits a little out of position. /Matti
  4. That was fast! Will you make it Vasa or something generic? /Matti
  5. Good job! Wooden ships are new to me also, but it's more rewarding then other models imo. I think you did the right thing to chose a subject you feel passionate about. That passion will give energy to the build. /Matti
  6. Nice work on the masts Mark. Good luck with the shoulder. /Matti
  7. Very cool indeed! The kit looks really nice. That design tickles a sci-fi nerve in me. It has fantastic lines. /Matti
  8. Yeah, sails look great. I need to learn how to weather fabric and shape them nicely. I think it's easy to lose scale and realism with them. /Matti
  9. Yeah, that's what I'd like, at least if I can get them realistic looking. I'll look into how you experienced folk do it. Frank's build has great looking sails so I'll try and see what he did. http://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/133-hmat-supply-by-riverboat-jotikacaldercraft-164th-scale/page-9# /Matti
  10. Thanks mobbsie, Nigel and Bug! I'm clueless when it comes to rigging and have to dig into whats what. Threads and fabric is all new to me. Good thing is that I'm pretty sure I know what look I want. /Matti
  11. Interesting to see how far off they where. Ill follow along. /Matti
  12. Hey everyone! I finished the scratched parts mentioned earlier. First pictures from the museum: And how mine turned out: The planks are stained with the same mix as the rest of the hull. Then lighter and darker washes to give it depht and make the planks slightly different from eachother. Finally drybrushing a little green and finally lightgray. /Matti
  13. Cool, we share taste in ships then. Oseberg is also on my list of interesting subjects. How long is the model? /Matti
  14. Wow, missed this! Very nice build up of a fantastic ship! Time to click the follow button. /Matti
  15. Thanks Buck, glad you like it! Working on the vertical planks below the beakhead. I'm trying to make my own construction so it takes a little time to work it out. I will also have to stain it and then weather it to make it uniform with the rest of the ship. Sorry, I should have translated: Mike said jättebra (Very good) and I replied Tack så mycket (Thank you very much). /Matti
  16. Looking forward to see how the little guy will look painted. /Matti
  17. Cheers Lawrence and Bug! I like the snowy pics, but I'm not tired of the winter yet. /Matti
  18. Thanks guys, Im really happy you like it! Ulisses thats a very kind comment, and I allready planned to look at your build when I'm starting the rigging. Yeah, we got winter finally, I'm pleased as I grew really tired of the dark and rainy weather. My new avatar is Filip, the crewman found next to the whipstaff. It's likely he died on his post trying to save her, as he could easily have escaped through the door right beside him. I worked on a new signature pic, t's a new year and all. Let's see if I remember how to change it... /Matti
  19. Hey all, here's an update on the beakhead work. First some reference of the real ship I took earlyer: And here is where I'm at in my build: /Matti
  20. Man, I've missed updates! Very, very nice work! You're not far from finishing her now. Hope you had a nice x-mas and new years mate. /Matti
