Starboard side shrouds, ratlines and stays are done on to the portside. Everything is out of the way, free access to ratlines 🙂. That's it for today, being pulled out of the shipyard for awhile but with 120 or so glove hitchs calling it will be hard to resist 😉. Thanks for looking in. Knocklouder FFBI 📛

Just when you think all is well, boom, a miss calculation on Rodney's part. We have the hawse holes are in the wrong spot, The plan shows the hole below the white line. It a bit of a pain, but I can fix it. 🧐 but it is a bit of a downer. This is my little jig for deadeyes, it happens to be exactly the same size as another ships spacer, after the shoulds were on, it was on to the ratlines , thats when I notice the hawse holes. oh well what can you do lol. The deadeyes are lined up , they look good to me, good enough for me anyway lol. Well the shrouds and stays are ready to tie up, I will leave the four stay till later, it gives me so much room for ratlines. So the ever changing plan is to run the ratlines, tie the stays, fix the hawse hole, then work on the booms and gaff. I told the first Mate that I may need the sails soon, she said......, well, let's just say I be working on the Scientific Bluenose for awhile. Lol . Freddie is ready to go, he pretty good as a ship inspector, but he a little to quiet for me, just wants to fish most of the time. Thanks for checking things out, for ever greatful I found this hobby. Rigging continues, and it really not that bad. I have all the shrouds and stays run an the deadeyes just need to be tied. One of those stays gets belaying to pin #5. Lots of deadeyes left, more blocks than what I need , but better than not enough. Tomorrow I will try to tie up the lines and hopefully 🐀 lines . Lol Thanks for looking in. Knocklouder FFBI 🛟

@bhermann glad to have you on board.I build for the fun of the hobby and trying to make them look like ships is the most fun you can every have. Jumping ahead, I started looking into the sails the kit sails were badly stained and after washing them it didn't help. So I asked the First Mate for some help, she reluctantly agreed to help. . She started by ironing the original sail then we cut out a test sail. We got ready to sew and we didn't have the right color of thread. So we put it all away and she will continue later. I am so lucky to have her. Love of my life. Mean while Frank the fire man is getting ready to put the stay back in place. And with one chop of the axe, everything fell back into place. So I painted up the chain plates and will move on to the foremast, I think she starting to look good, thanks to all the help I get here. @John Ruy has been so helpful, I ask his advice on all most every thing I do. Lol. But if I wonder off course from time to time , he helps me focus. Lol. On to the foremast starboard side rigging. Ratlines first lol. 😆 🤣 Thanks so much for all the help and likes l am receiving. A greatful member of MSW/NRG, just signed on for another year, . Knocklouder FFBI 🛟

Paul, This is the place to be, everything you need to know is here, great data base, great members. Have as much fun as you can, its the greatest hobby And this is the best place on the web for it. Welcome aboard from up North in Canada. Knocklouder -
I am not sure if there is any trick , except becareful I broke mine twice while building, and have to fix them again as I broke them moving it around putting another model in the display case The kit comes with spare parts for the railings, and @chris watton has your back if you need replacement 😀. The figurehead, leave it in the box until the last possible time. Yes , I broke that to lol. Knocklouder

Work on the lower deadeyes was painful, the plastic deadeyes have to go in a piece of brass and crimped on. I broke four, but Rodney has a box full of these , no shortage here. Lol. I have the holes for the rest of the blocks but will install them latter. In my haste to get'er done I, after the upper ratlines were done I tied the stays. Now I will have a hard time with the lower ratlines. Freddie said just take the back stay off, and then you will have lots of space. Looks that way, I will remember to do all the ratines first before the stays as I go forward. Freddie is looking over the plans for the Scientific, he says let's finish the Billings Boat first because there are too many numbers and different sizes for everything and it too confusing, and it doesn't take much too confuse me these days lol. So, we will consider the idea, it is so much fun building a schooner, I may look for another one to do latter. Rumor has it that there is a ship in the mail headed my way, Freddie says I am the luckiest guy he's ever meet. Lol. I will let you know when it gets here. . Back to the ratlines, my happy place . Thanks for looking in. Knocklouder FFBI 🚢

When you have a plan, and diagrams to follow it to you just grin. 😁. All the booms and gaff still need a block or to but we'll on the way. Some of the mast fitting installed, paint thouch ups all around , but I will do them all latter. Time to start running some thread, I am so glad . The cat points out all the rigging line are in stock. I set up my rigging department, let's rig. Shrouds are ready to rig as well, plenty of blocks and fittings . So on to the shrouds, then ratlines, lol I wonder if I can tie all the rstlines in one day lol. Well that my ship, I think I will run the shrouds and the rat line on the Billings Boat then do the same on the Scientific model,I am finding it confusing to follow both plans they are different. Thanks for popping in. Freddie says Rodney has the lower deadeyes install all ready, they just need adjusting they will be fine. That half the battle done , the upper deadeyes will be a walk in the park. Knocklouder FFBI 🚢

Freddie is ready to start his new job as Building Inspector. But first a few casts, line fishing on the Bluenose. 😊. Now that John Ruy has supplied all the information I need to move forward it has been write down and stowed away , Freddie says it's time to reel in the booms and gaffs. Freddie went over all the plans, says we are in good shape. Just keep the compass pointed to: @John Ruy ° by MSW °. And we will be fine, clear sailing no rain in site. On to the booms, lol Knocklouder FFBI

This picture is the same as the last picture, But the more I looked at it today, the more I didn't like it. The masts were a brown color, and the Bowsprit mast was white. So I changed it. First, I primed it, then I speed painted it to something I liked. Now I have to let it dry over night then seal it tomorrow. So I hired this fellow to help out. And right away he starts pointing out things, shees, so I filled his mouth with paint, lol. He was made by my good friend @Gabek , we met up today and he unloaded on me. To many things to show, lol. And he told me , look, just to let you know I am busy till winter, ...of 2027 so make a list lol. Yes I like this a lot better. I ran into a slight problem it seems. I am missing a few sheets of plans, and the part that tells you what size rope to use, what blocks go were how many holes do they have. Lucky, @John Ruy to the rescue, thanks so much, looking at his log for his Bluenose and a few emails to him, I now will attempt to rig this schooner. And by following John Ruy, I can't go wrong. 😁. Thank you so much my friend. Bob M. FFBI

A big special thanks to my good friend @Gabek he made me this little doe head for my ship, wow, it makes the ship shine.lol actually he made a bunch of different sizes, but the bigger one was the one. I love it thanks so much my friend, Speed paint is the most wonderful thing, lol. I got home from lunch with Gabe, primed it and painted it the put a coat of shellac to seal it. And glued it on. It justs look perfect. I tied up the Bowsprit sail and put it back in the display case. So now this log is official FINISHED. Thanks so much for all likes and the fun we shared. I am having the time of my life, time to finish up a couple more, lol, see you soon. Your shipmate Knocklouder. Thanks so Much everyone Bob M.

After advise from @John Ruy I peeled the decal off the back. He pointed out that that decal was for the stand not the stern, he showed me what he did so thats what I will do. Looking to my left I see this big picture of a Dory, so I says make them look like this. I painted them all the same, will trim them tomorrow. I had to change the look of my ships wheel, I like this. I blacken a few things and a wire for the ship's bell. The masts have all the holes for the blocks drill in . I want to put another coat of white paint on the mast tomorrow, then attach the blocks and brackets, then they should be ready to set them in place. I am so excited, my good friend @Gabek and I are meeting up tomorrow, he has my figure head for my Golden Hind. Its a doe head, I found a picture that I posted earlier, I dont know where I got it from, MSW is not responsible for that picture I posted it my fault. Lol. ANYWAY he got a few other goodies for me too so I can't wait. He helps make my ships come alive, this is were she is at now, rigging soon lol Sea you all soon, Knocklouder

I made up these little dories, and painted them up. Next up was to put it on the stand, slite damage to the hull It is on the wall side so I may not fix it, only if I have to redo the clear coat for what ever reason lol The decal is old and is in three peices but passable. Loving the shine ,the Bluenose coin shows up really nice. Double your fun , build two ships in one lol. I put the Scientific Bluenose up on the self for awhile. Going to work on the Billings Boat today, repainting the deck furniture as well as the deck. Right after the deck is repainted, I make up the dories for it, this one has four plastic boats, it will be fun. Looking into the rigging and the sails, lots of research is needed here lol. Talk soon , thanks for looking in. Knocklouder

Work continues on the deck furniture , I will change the color of the dories though the plan say green on the out side and tan on the inside. Plus you have to use scrap balsa to make the stand and the boat rails, scratch building lol. repair to the windlass are need, as well as to the masts. The balsa wood is very brittle, I had to cut new mast tops out of pear wood, the balsa just crumble in my had as I work on them. I looked at Rodney's masts, I think I have to take them apart to get the rings on. That's a problem for another day. I like my little ships wheel, it is not historical correct but it will do. I see Bluenose ships wheels that have a life perseveres on them, but that's a little to detailed for me. more fun tomorrow, dare I say I be doing ratlines befor long Knocklouder PS is it every hard not to thouch the hulls lol 😆 🤣

Well the hulls are painted and they really look good to me. My only complaint is the color, I used Hull red from Tamiya ,instead of Copper Hull Red from Model Expo, Me does not ship to Canada, Pity. Lol It is a little browner then I wanted but, It will do. . The paint is excellent, it the first time I used that brand, it flows really nice. Here they areright out of the paint shop. I labeled them so you can tell the difference between the little Scientific Bluenose and the larger Billings Boat, lol. Then I put them up on the self so they could dry for several days, before touching them. Most of the deck furniture on the Billings Boat is made up, just going to repaint them, all the deck furniture has to be made for the Scientific Bluenose, plus I will start on the masts for both ships, so I have plenty to do and the longer you let the hulls dry the better. I will repaint both cap rails on both ship white, Rodney painted his Bowsprit mast white so I see how eazy it is to sand it off and stain it brown. He also painted his mast a darker brown but I will change it to a lighter wood color later. That's it for now shipmates, thanks for the likes and advice I recive here daily. Thanks so much. Good Morning; The ship's are back from the paint shop, so far I am really happy with the work. I thought today I would spray the copper hull red from Tamiya Color, but decided to wait till Monday to give it more time to dry. I will put the cap rails on the SB, and paint them white Rodney has the cap rail white on the stern and black on the forward one. The SB has them all white, I don't know which is right, but I will look into it and make them the same. Another difference os the Bowsprit mast, white on the BB but stain light brown on the SB. Oh well they will look good when sprayed. So I will start to put the deck furniture together, the Billings Boat needs a few grates put in and all the pieces repainted white and the Scientific Bluenose has to be made and painted ,so lots of fun stuff to do. And I can start work on the masts as well. Thanks for the likes and incouragement as I journey on. Knocklouder

No Keith, sadly this was not his first offence, regrettable he's not getting out.for a long time. So painting is going full out today. Starting with the Billings, repainted the black and applied a clear coat. The Scientific is still in the paint shop waiting for second coat on the black, then clear coat, after that I going to leave it for a few days to really dry up. They is lots of deck things to make and paint. Once the black is done and the copper color is finished on both ,I think I will rig the Billings Boat frist, then the Scientific. Rodney has tray full of blocks, deadeyes, one hole blocks Up to four hole blocks . These blocks are way better than the ones in the Scientific, so I use then for it after , I am sure I will have lots left. Back to the paint shop, rudder repairs on the BB. the SM. Is good to go , this is so exciting, the spray gun is warming up, as soon as I read the instructions lol. Knocklouder
