  1. Hi Denis,

Good progress mate, that hull shape really stands out now the resins on.

Hope the headache wasn't to bad mate, renowned for it when using this stuff, real heady vapours even with good ventilation.

With the hull a little narrower your onto making a Cat or Triple, now that would be a project.

Keep up the good stuff mate.

    Be Good

  2. Hi Zoltan,

I'm afraid I cant give you the information you require, it was all part of my data loss when the Laptop crashed.

It will take a bit of work but you can find out what you need to know by checking out the spreadsheet from Grant, you have one of papers showing the timber ordered and another with loads of data regarding the parts, thickness's and lengths, also what type of timber to use, it really is your bible  throughout this build and is testament to the hard work that Grant has put in on this.

    .

You will be able to do research on this as you continue with your Armed Virginia Sloop.

    Good Luck mate

  3. Hi Buddy,

I'm working on an Armed Launch from Panart, it's in the kit section, I will be putting an update on soon so you can check it out of you want.

I'm sure your Junk wont be as the box illustrates by the time your finished, a lot of Frank Magic is going be used much to our pleasure and awe.

Unfortunately in my experience most of the Keels are warped and need a bit of correction, I don't know what the answer is as most are still attached to the flash, the other annoying problem is the Dowling, never had a straight piece yet, anyway you've made a great start mate and I'm looking forward to following along.

One thing mate at least you don't have a lot rigging to do, that's gotta be a bonus. She certainly looks an interesting build and I think your going to really enjoy building her, problem is that when you get a ship that gives a great deal of building pleasure it never seems to last long enough.

I agree with you about Skype time, it's been way too long since our last chat, as a bit of warning mate I'm gonna suggest tomorrow AM for you, that's PM for me. Just send me a P.M. if that's suitable or any convenient time for you, I'll be here.

    OK my friend, speak soon

  4. Hi There You Old Sea Slug,

Just when you thought you were safe !!!!!!!!!!!!! I found ya.

Mind if I tag along, I'm fairly low maintenance as long as you throw me an odd bone, at your age that's all I'm likely to get anyway.

Now I do have one question :- All your other builds have been Junked up what will you be doing to Junk up your Junko Chino ( that's what it says on the box ).

Good to see you back at the table my friend, I hope you have lots of enjoyment from this build, she's different and looks to be a lot of fun.

    Take Care and Be Good

  5. Hi Zoltan,

Thank you very much for your kind comments and checking out the log.

Unfortunately I am unable to comply with your request due to a major problem I had with my Laptop, it totally crashed and I have lost all my data and most of my photos, unfortunately Like the idiot I am most of my stuff wasn't backed up.

I had Windows 7 and liked that a lot but unfortunately I now have Windows 10 and hate it, mainly because I cant find my way around.

The good news is that you can use the data you requested and sent to you by Grant on the 30th May, it's all the same data as Grant sent it to me in the first place. I contacted Grant on your behalf and asked him to send you the data, that's when he told me he had already sent it to you.

I wish you well on your current build and in the future.

    Be Good

  6. Hi Grant,

Wow, the colour on those panels really do stand out mate, having used Redheart and varnished it I have been unable to get the same finish.

Your hatch framework is coming together nicely and it will be interesting to see how you make the hinges, are they likely to be seperate or will you have a piano hinge on each of the covers.

All in all some very good progress mate.

Looking forward to future updates my friend.

    Be Good

  7. Morning Gents,

Thank you all very much for your comments and for dropping in and thanks to all who hit the like button, all are very welcome and appreciated.

Piet and Brian welcome to the log guys, good to have you along.

I have an update guys which is pretty quick for me, just 17 days since my last one.

I think this is the correct time to apply a coat of W.O.P,  the colour change is quite evident, the wood was also very thirsty.

The Port and Starboard stern benches have now been fitted, the holes are for a pair of Belaying Pins, elbows can also be seen and are waiting to be fitted to the stern.

    post-493-0-20682600-1466932742.jpg

Forard stringer elbows made and ready for fitting and the forard locker cover fitted, all the elbows are made from Lime planks and have had cut down flathead pins pre-fitted, the locker cover is made from 2x2mm lime strip and 1x5mm walnut planks.

    post-493-0-12944900-1466933171.jpg

Aft elbows have now been fitted along with the rudder cap and tiller bar also the Swivel Gun Pedestals, the pedestals are 6x6mm Walnut square stock, the pedestals had to be shaped to fit the hull and cut out made for the Capping Rail. The tiller was a lot of fun trying to bend to shape, no matter what I tried it creased at the bend, in the end I sanded out a lot of the crease and settled for that, it's not too bad really. The Rudder Cap is a 10x10mm Lime block and the Tiller Bar is a 5x5mm Lime Stock. Lime is not the best of woods to work with.

Next step was for the Benches, Mast Seat, Mast Head, and Bench Elbows. I cut the Benches from Swiss Pear Boards, the size is 5x15mm, a 10mm hole needed to be made for the Mast seat and Bracing pieces fitted either side of the bench. The Mast Head was cut from a piece of Lime square stock, reamed out and pulleys fitted, I changed the small brass pulleys and made a couple of wooden ones from 6mm dowel. The seat elbows are made from Lime stock but I wasn't happy with these and changed them to Swiss Pear.

Next was to dry fit the stern Capping Rail and fit it around the Rudder Post. The Capping Rail is made from Swiss Pear, shaped and the outer edge decoration cut into it, this was then treated with Ebonising Solutions until the right colour was reached. The stern side rails were given the same treatment. The capping rail elbows were cut from a 10x10mm block of Swiss Pear stock, using a template made from the plans the shape was cut and sanded. These have now been dry fitted.

    post-493-0-91752300-1466938186_thumb.jpg

We have now a big leap ahead, All the capping rails have been fitted and I decided to put a length of rope (1mm Caldercraft) along the length of the decoration, more as a rubbing rope. The benches have been fitted along with the elbows, (I hate elbows). The Mast seat has been fitted underneath the bench and columns fitted beneath each of the other remaining benches. I cut the rowlocks from 6x6mm Walnut stack and shaped using my drum sander, they were drilled and pins fitted, these were then glued to the aping rail. the two Fairleads were cut from 6x6mm Walnut square stock these were also glued to the capping rail.

I've reached the limit of this download gents so I will wait until my next update to post the rest.

  8. Hello Grant,

She's really coming along very nicely my friend.

Spraying the interior has made everything stand out very well and your below deck layout looks extremely functional, an awful lot of thought has gone into where you are now and it shows.

Wheel assembly looks well engineered but obviously is not yet complete and I look forward to seeing the drive gear fitted. No pressure mate.

I think you are now over the biggest hurdle and your progress is now just a stroll in the park :D  :D :D  :D  :D  :D  :P .

    Be Good My Friend

  9. Hi Mark,

I think I have to agree with Pat, Greg and Carl, it does seem pointless to have open railings with no access or function.

it's a pity there is no Fore / Aft view, that would have been a help.

Whatever you decide mate I know you'll give 100%, good luck with your decision.

  10. Hi Sam,

Those masts are coming on a treat mate, they'll look really good when you finish them.

There isn't a modeller alive who hasn't run out of materials of some sort and had to change tack halfway through a job, I can also relate to the laziness thing, it's a major fault of mine.

Ahh well, life's for living and we don't want to be a slave to out builds do we, i vowed to catch afew rays this year and I'm not doing to bad so far.

Take your time mate, life's too short to be rushing about.

    Be Good
