  1. Popeye, You're doing a great job of getting all your build logs up and running again! John
  2. I agree. A pleasure to read - and also a real pleasure to see your beautiful model! John
  3. Popeye, Fishermen often take a lot of pride in the condition of their boats. Look at the state of general maintenance on these lobster boats moored amongst the yachts at Perkins Cove. And I remebered this parking restriction sign - obviously put up just for you! John
  4. Dave, Underhill's book is the "bible" on rigging late 19th/early 20th century sailing ships. If you're interested in earlier sail, the you might think about "The Masting and Rigging of English Ships of War 1625 to 1850" by James Lees. John
  5. Still catching up with the new forum, Toni. It's great to see your beautiful model (and your dog) again! John
  6. Great information and detail of your research as well as a terrific build, B.E. John
  7. Rusty, I'm still catching up with what's happning on MSW version 2. It's great to see your Confederacy back. John
  8. Ah! It's nice to be able to just sit back and enjoy your wonderful model again, Karl! John
  9. It's good to see your Pickle growing here again! John
  10. Pat, I'm familiar with 'cable-laid' and 'cablet', but 'cabled' is a new one. In what context does Steel use it? John
  11. Paul, It's good to see your Scharnkorst groing on MSW mark 2! As for the discussion re political symbols, it is MSW's policy not to allow any political, religious, racial or sexual symbols or content except where such symbols are an intergral part of the historical depiction of the model, such as, for example, Nazi symbols as they were displayed on German WWII ships at the time. As has already been pointed out, this is a model building forum and politics, race, religion or sexual content has no place here. All members are welcome as model builders no matter what views they may personally hold. John
  12. You're making good progress with her, Håkan. She's looking good! John
  13. Jason, If you're thinking about whether or not to add crowsfeet, remember that you'll need to make some fairly early decisions, as the holes need to be drilled in the fore end of the tops if you're going to rig them. John
  14. So now we've got the plastic kit up as well Popeye! There's just no holding you back! John
  15. G'day, mate! Looking forward to your reinstating some of your logs in brief when you have time! John
  16. I can only help with oar lengths for modern pulling lifeboats, where an oar for a 30 foot boat would be 14.1 feet long. John
