  1. I think we can agree, Grant, that the complexity of your ship and the caliber of your build are numerous levels above mine. And, seeing that I have quite a few years on you, I can't waste any time. Heck, I don't even buy green bananas anymore! Still, you could go a LITTLE faster
  2. Thanks to all who stopped by and took the time to comment. David- next build will probably be MS new Essex. Andy - Get some sleep man!!!!! Keith - started 11/24/2011 Trans- sent you a PM on the molding ---- not sure which one you mean. And, finally, Sjors. You know I'd do anything to 'make your day'.
  3. Slight change of plans. Here is a photo update of just the main and fore topsail completed rigging: Be a few days 'til the topgallants go aloft........darned summertime
  4. Rich - you just made me realize that I've missed the Niagara Club myself. Hope all of the folks are well but just busy. Best of luck landing the job you want. Sure doesn't sound like the old days out there.
  5. That finish is a pleasure to behold. I had the chance once to stay outside Copenhagen on a work related trip. The city was so full for some event, I wound up some 50Km from town in a nice quiet inn by the water. Having seen some Fallow Deer in the area, I got out at sunup to explore a bit before hitting the factory. Deer there were. But I eventually wound up down at the waterfront. I was stunned by the boats in the small harbor. A variety of fishing and work boats. But they had one thing in common. They were all wooden craft and some of them.......well actually most of them....had a finish as if you had just polished them. Unforgettable.
  6. It's great to have friends like Frank, someone to count on in case one of the (short) fuses around here gets 'accidentally' lit. But fear not, my friend. Nothing deters me from the task at hand. The topsail yard rigging has been completed and the rigging spiders are strapping on their oxygen prior to ascension to the topgallants. A photo update shall appear as soon as the t'gallants are lashed aloft!
  7. Aha....thank you Wayne. I need to apologize to Sjors though. He's right......there were some actual build photos posted on this log just a few months ago. (You see, if I'm not nice to him, he'll use the old "I have to work for the next 3 days" excuse).
  8. Yup.....Widmark and the fire control guy blew that one. But now I'm lost.......who is the Mississippi Peacemaker?????
  9. I give up. You folks are the absolute greatest :D Be back as soon as I figure out who snuck into the shop and belayed the topsail buntlines to where the braces are supposed to go. This may take a week
  10. See, Mobbsie understands me. In fact, I went fishing yesterday ----- the fish won!
  11. Glad the bleeding has subsided. Hopefully, you used medium or thick CA for the repair ---- holds up better than the thin stuff. Really nice job on all that planking. That is one significant quantity of wood. As requested, I wish you luck with the coppering. Oh, please provide photo of Spitfire on low level pass. One of the few things in life that rivals a fully rigged ship-of-the-line.
  12. We shall now return this log to it's intended purpose ----- in a day or two
  13. Nice car Tex. I'll use Sjors' excuse (I'm taller than he is). Besides, I gave up fast cars and sexy women long ago (or was it fast women and sexy cars?). Robbyn- If you're going to wait for Chuck's Winchelsea, you best start scratch building. She'll be a beauty but he mentioned a while back there are no plans to kit it.
