  1. That is very nice Daniel. I'll wait to see what you decide on planking vs. scribing. Just had 2 more looks. Looks even nicer!
  2. Hey- glad you enjoyed it. Don't think I've read the whole thing myself . I'm sure your Greyhound will surpass this in spite of the few early problems you've hit. I', enjoying that one just as much.
  3. Not a lot of display space around here that will hold her Eric so, for better or worse, she goes where she goes. I've got one spot left after that. A lot of wind so far but it looks to me like most of the snow is hanging up in the hills. That's where we need it anyway. Stay warm!
  4. Looking forward to hear what you select as your next build. It will be great to follow her from the very outset. But that doesn't detract from the anticipation of seeing Stag in her full regalia with that beautiful rig she carries. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
  5. Thanks, Popeye......but not to worry. Ever since I got my bionic, titanium backbone I cut through the drifts like a 20 year old. I'm the poor man's version of the $ 6 million man
  6. OK, ok .......you guys and gals are killing me. Contrary to popular belief, this is STILL a build log. SO------ Progress on the yards has been a bit slow as life has reared it's head. However, we have gotten some work done: The cleats and footrope stirrups have been completed. The yards themselves have been stained and finished with a few areas of paint to simulate metal fittings. As suggested by Chuck, the stirrups were made from 28 gauge wire rather than from rigging line. It gives a nice appearance and will provide a solid footing for the ropes for which I will use rigging line treated with diluted PVA. It's stretching/drying right about now. I trust this photo will placate Sjors (AKA you-know-who). I promise to return with more once the blizzard is put to bed.
  7. There are at least 5 or 6 build logs on here for Niagara. I'm sure the shipwrights will chime in soon.
  8. You can certainly see where they protrude. It adds a whole new texture there. The red surprised me!!!! Ate in your town at a few great restaurants about 30 years ago. Maybe they're still there. Might be worth a trip over to get some Pasta Carciofi and stop by your place
  9. She looks good! Don't sweat the photos ---- I KNOW she looks even better in person. Hard to get these rigging shots. Well done!
  10. http://modelshipworl...size-of-photos/ John- check the link above for size info. As you said, one way might be to adjust your camera. The other way is to download your photos into your computer then adjust the size using whatever program you have. That's how I do it so there's no need to play with the camera (I'm all out of 10 year olds around here).
  11. TEXANS! Go ahead....rub it in. I'll be laughing like all git out in May when you're roasting down there at 100 degrees and I'm just packing away the Under Armor. Good luck on the photos. The old MSW used to need small photos but the new system accepts much larger ones. I'm sure there's a thread on the forum as to how to post photos. Let us know if you continue to have problems and one of the moderators will set you straight.
  12. Ah, the baby has her first teeth. Lookin' GOOD!!!!!! And neat work on the black under to hatches.
  13. I'm still 'sparring'. There's a lot of hardware on these things. Plus, yardwork (actually in the YARD) is on the agenda. Aint Spring wonderful!!! But we have a foot of snow coming tomorrow......whoopie!!!!
  14. Sorry about the mishap with your computer and photos. That's ok though ---- pick up where you are and by the time you're ready for the next one you'll have a bunch of contacts. Glad to have another 'seasoned' member on board. These young kids (less than 60) are hard to keep up with and they're too darned good
  15. Welcome aboard, Texxn ! I think you'll find there's a lot of info on MSW you can use in your future builds. Are you going to start a build log on your Connie? It's the best way to meet folks, discuss issues and pick up tips. I've been following AndyMechs Connie and he's doing one heck of a job. There are so many aspects to this hobby and here you can enjoy them all. I'll look forward to your first log John.
  16. Astounding how well the proud lady looks. Can I ask when that photo was taken?
  17. You needed the exercise! Take your time before rigging. It's fun. See all that empty space between the sticks? Now you're going to fill it up !!!!
