I know what you mean about the photos Andy. I took a couple of shots of mine yesterday and just trashed them. Need to find a good background I guess.

I built the Peterboro a number of years back. It's a fun build. I strapped it on the side of my Piper Cub float plane and the guys love it. Complete with flyrod and net. Nice touch with the additional teak accent plank. Get a good hi-gloss finish on her and she's a beauty.

Mercury by DSiemens - FINISHED - BOTTLE

More than impressive. Because of your skill at this, I'm going to cast off my (predictable) 'but she's a working boat' hat and say go for the shiniest, deepest finish you can. Because you CAN. Yes, shellac (usually 3#) was used in the pharma and candy industries for sugar coating to keep the tablets from sticking together in the package. It was applied in a large, 4-8 foot diameter coating pan and dusted with talc near the end of the application. Two coats were sufficient. 3 or 4 coats produced what is called an enteric coating which would pass through the stomach unafftected then dissolve in the intestine. 5 coats and the pills could pass through the sun itself. Congratulations on your first 'tutorial'. WELL DONE!

Popeye, you've done a magnificent job on her. She looks every bit the part of a hard working boat. Oh, she's loved....but she's functional! The lobster traps, with flora and critters, are a true work of art. Really. Once again, you've outdone yourself.

I really admire your treatment on Pegasus Andy. But I've already got 3 on the 'next up' wish list so we'll see what happens. Hope things are ok up there at 48+ degrees North. We're getting slammed pretty good here in the Rockies (stupid Ground Hog blew it this year).

What a wonderful day. The site is back up, you are about to divulge the scale you selected, and Sjors is back to his ever-impatient self. I, on the other hand, will await your input (be really nice @ 1:75)

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
