I Like what you've done with lots of outlets and above the bench. You can never have too many places to plug things in. All i n all, a marvelous workspace! -
Help identifying anything about this ship?

From Post #1, The attached photo is of a ship in the background of an early 19th-century portrait either produced in Spain or possibly the New World. -
Reminds me of the tale I heard once: "George Washington's hatchet that he used on the legendary Cherry tree. All original except that the head was replaced once, and the handle 3 times."

They sure are pretty little tools. Which size did you get, and how did you decide?

Respect them, don't fear them. Such good advice, for many things, like, for instance, cars or firearms, Richard -
Sounds like this product would have been a strong candidate for the Alferd Griner Packer award for culinary excellence.

Yes, I had the same experience in the 90's but it was with my Grandson. When we were kids, the sets had lots of "real" chemicals and you could do neat stuff with them. My favorite was flash powder in a large gelatin Capsule you could buy by the box full at the local pharmacy and fill yourself. They were compounding pharmacists in those days, not just pill peddlers, so they had lots of chemicals, too. I packed these in my backpack for Boy Scout camping trips, to toss in the campfire. Stopped doing that after our ***'t Scout Leader demo'd his rugged Backwoodsman skills by bending down over the fire to light his cigarette on a burning log - at just the wrong moment. Good Times, they were.

I prefer jpeg rather than heic for all my iPhone photos for compatibility when downloading or sending them. To do this on an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings - Camera - Formats and select "Most Compatable" Maybe not as good, technically, as heic but meets my needs with lower hassle factor.

Aha. I see that what I thought was a wrap is a shadow. It's clear to me now looking more closely at this and your other photos. The Nonsuch is an interesting design that I never sailed. My experience is limited to sloop rigged boats in the 30 - 40 foot range, in and around SF Bay. I'm enjoying following your build, and imagine if I were aboard and sailing her. Brings back fond memories of when I was younger and able to get out on the water. Good times.

She's looking very good, and realistic. If you will pardon a picky comment, though, I note that the line on the winch on the cabin goes counter-clockwise; I believe it and all lines to winches should go clockwise like the mainsheet to the winch on the port side of the cockpit.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
