congratz on the finish of the Cutty............the 1:96 series of revell kits are my favorites to build! very well done!

you've built an impressive model here if I had seen this model being built in the beginning stages, I might have been able to give you some insight as to what I did. I have the Sergal Thermopylae, and I have found the kit equally challenging and a struggle to build. the instructions don't help much, and even some of the pre cut parts needed some degree of scratch building. there is a form of photo etch that can be purchased for this model, as well as the Thermopylae.......I even bought a separate set of the wood detail sheet. by now, you've seen that the rigging illustration supplied in the kit is incorrect. seeing that you've chosen to follow other text and direction....good decision the scale of the model is another detriment......adding all the rigging and the extra detail can easily crowd the model. the Thermopylae is @ 1:124 scale....to me, this is way too small, especially for three or more masted ships. I've always considered the Revell 1:96 scale models, the better suited models to work with {if only they could get rid of those three segmented decks } . whatever the obstacles, you've built a very stunning model....how long it's taken you is a testament to your determination.

Christmas is drawing to a close.......all the festivities are over.........we can breathe now I must be dreaming.........I got six kits! 1:48 DML Fokker D VII - Rabin's Ravens 1:48 DML Fokker D VII - Rabin's Ravens 1:48 DML Fokker Dr 1 - Ltn. Kempf's plane ......a small mix up with the D VII's....one was supposed to be a Dr 1 - Rabin's Ravens, but when the order was placed, it had been sold there is a silver lining here...I can order a decal sheet from Pheon Decals PheonDecals.com - Home page and do them all in the Rabin's markings. I did a Fokker D VII in 1:28 scale a while ago......came out rather well I got this one......1:50 ARII Supur Patton tank. the interesting feature about this one, is that it's motorized.....comes with a remote control that also needs assembly. I was a bit surprised by it's size.....it's not a really large model.......but it should be fun. it come with the motor and everything to make it work, except the batteries I also got an MPC 'Profile Series' kit of a 1:72 B 25........looks to be an airfix rebox from back in the '70's. the box has some wear, and quite a few parts are off the sprues, but the bag is sealed so everything should be there. for boats, I got two.......I was hoping for the Japanese carrier Akagi, but instead, I got the battleship U.S.S. Missouri by Hasegawa in 1:450 scale. it's a nice kit and can be motorized, but the motor isn't included......it includes the hardware though, so the prospects are good if I choose to do it. the big one is the Billing Boats U.S. Coast Guard life boat in 1:20 scale. this kit has everything to make it R/C, except the servos so, this might be an advantageous project for the future

I had done a bit more on her, but not enough to write home about. I drilled out the hawse holes for the anchors........I added to the inner bulwark to thicken it up for the hawse eyelets. I didn't want them to stick out like a sore thumb. they were cleaned up and painted the same Medium green color. I don't think I will paint the hawse holes eyelets.......I kind of like them white. I still need to add the wales......once done, then I can add the bumpers for the anchors. I wanted to get further.......like make the cat heads, but time was limited. I did paint the bow spirit though, along with the Clotilda's....... as with the Clotilda, I will paint the masting the same color as the inner bulwarks. I want to wish you all a very merry Christmas

no....nothing like that will happen.......my F 15 has been good since I did it besides.......no one will clean them but me anyway......I did manage to do a little bit while I was waiting for the admiral to get ready to head out....just a tiny bit more to do. I had painted the 'bridge' on the single stripe........and am getting ready to add the second stripe. I also started to make the base...........from some sheet basswood and 3 X 5 mm basswood strip. I'm going to add some in the center to keep it from warping. more to come.

had to step out for a while...........what I wanted to tell ya is that a replacement part is on it's way......will be here by Saturday if the post works the way it's supposed to. I also found and down loaded the Accurate miniatures instruction sheet for this model, in the event I can use any of the other parts that are on the sprue. very happy camper..........hopefully I have some Navy blue..........

basically, all you need is the emulator to play old games. I go to DopeROMs for NES, super NES, and other early platform games. for other games, one can go here: Download Games | PC Games and Mac Game Downloads at Direct2Drive in my early days of computer play, I dealt a lot with DOS. I have some games I'd love to play, but they need to be formatted to the newer platforms. I recently got Diablo 1 to play on windows 8.1 I did happen on a site that deals with DOS games......haven't looked into it yet though DOSBox, an x86 emulator with DOS I also have a program that keeps windows 10 from barging into my computer...at one time, they geared it to self install when windows XP {my favorite} got old and windows 7 took over...somewhere around that time frame. a couple of Christmas's ago, the admiral got me another platform that will allow me to watch movies, and play the older games on newer televisions....it's the absolute rage! I can watch movies that haven't even gotten to DVD yet.....hot off the press I'm not a fan of steam.......too much can be found for free. that's like Warcraft........why but the game, and then have to pay for the platform to run it......silly if you ask me. I'm not a fan of sims either......mostly hack 'n slash and first person shooters. I love a game that has a lot of puzzles. I'll be back.............

it was a model Kurt........the admiral would kill me if I drove something like that to the house! although a friend of mine would likely take it off my hands......he collects the full size trucks {he already has a pumper}. trivia....to drive a vehicle such as that on city streets, you would have to remove all the markings and likely the color too, so not to confuse it as an emergency vehicle. to keep it as it is, it could only be used in parades and fairs. my son bought a short based school bus for his business and he had to repaint it {the markings had already been removed}. he has five kids.......I told him to hand them a paint brush and go to town!

that would be more noticeable with the insignia I saw that later after I had put them on. one had already split on me {the flame area}, so I decided to leave them as they were. thanks for the very kind word.....this one was the easiest one I've done......the black put everything in my favor. not only that, but even though they were one scale size short, the decals worked well on the model. the decal sheet supplied in the kit were wrong for the model subject.......if I can get another Dr 1, I will make sure that it IS an F 1, so I can use the sheet......perhaps I can do Foss's plane. I have the face for the cowl. I did see a kit that was missing the decals, but I didn't want to shake the Santa tree too severely........didn't want him to get mad at me I do have a pair on my list though.......Dr 1's and D VII's are my favorite planes, and I had these two on the list before I saw it. another problem I'm having, is that someone has been taking inventory of my stash {and current projects}, and may make future purchases harder to get approval for. now I'm sure that I have some in the stash that will prove to be interesting, but seeing others that might be even more interesting, may get passed over. I doubt that this scenario would come to pass, but it means that I need to pick and choose what subjects deserve merit I'll keep you posted

bad break on the light issues......looks to me like you were on a roll! that is the type of light that I have on my main table.....I don't like it. I want to set up a crane light {or even two} because it's easier to replace a bulb, than a florescent tube. sorry to hear of your issues Ken......hope a remedy is in the works for you

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
