  1. Welcome to MSW. I built this model a few ago and the research was a bit of an eye-opener. Have fun.
  2. Is that at the USAF museum at Wright Patt? Looks like "old" museum hangers in the background.
  3. No worries. Stuff happens. I think we've all been there at least once.
  4. Welcome to MSW. Do follow Steve and Chris's advise. Open a build log and you should do well.
  5. Welcome to MSW. I'm looking forward to seeing your log.
  6. The hatches and companionway look good, Glenn.
  7. Well, the Stryker is supposed to be "air portable'... Adding tracks may also have pushed it over the max weight. That link Lou, is interesting.
  8. Sorry about the line troubles. Is it cotton or synthetic? Synthetic doesn't like the glue and water treatment as it won't soak in.
  9. It's wonderful to see you back Michael. I'm glad that all is well.
  10. Wow... great progress and well done. Bob seems to be in a good place that will keep him out of trouble. As for the "what is it?".... I'm not sure it's a pedestal as it appears to be bolted to the bulkhead. I zoomed in as much as I could and it looks like a bracket at the bottom and top... There's another round one higher up. Doesn't look like a pump but perhaps it's to hold the rammer for one of the guns? Dunno'.
  11. The Stryker tires are designed (according to Google search) such that they can run flat. They're not bullet proof but the pressure can be controlled from inside the cab (built in compressor apparently). Looking good, Jack. And Lou is right. Don't sweat the "shade"....
  12. Welcome to MSW, Nemo. Give some thought to opening a build log in the kit area. It's a great way to make friends and get help when you need it.
  13. Welcome to MSW, Sergio. By all means, open a log in the kit area for your new Titanic.
  14. I had 3 issued. Turn around by the paraloft was 2 days which worked out. Sometimes, used them 4 days or more in a row. Depended. Honestly, I don't think anyone cared if we smelled bad... but with all the other smells over there, no one would notice anyway. There was a head piece available but I didn't know anyone who even checked them out from the paraloft. The last day I flew, I ended up being very upset and generally pissed off a things (wasn't a good day in the air....). Dropped my MG off at the armory, went to the paraloft and dropped off my helmet, gloves, and told them I was done flying. I was reminded to bring my flight suit back (and the others). To demonstrate my mood... I took off the flight suit, tossed it on the counter and walked back to my hooch in my underwear, carrying my rifle, and .45 in the holster. Now that I think about it... no one talked to me as left the hanger, they just kind of backed away.
  15. I believe he worked with her (his hands on hers) until she had a feel for what she was doing. She popped in at least one other of his logs and "helped". I'd say go for a wood model with them. If they break a piece, Granddad can make a new one.
  16. Indeed it is the right place. Just add your posts for the build to this topic.
  17. Ah... yes... Flight suits, gloves and boots. We could trade in our flight suits and gloves regularly, as they were nomex. We were told not to wash them but return them. I suspect they dry cleaned them somehow. Full boots in the air. Jungle boots on the ground.
  18. If there's flaws, I don't see them. Looking sharp.
  19. You can also go a step further if you like. Mike Y lets his daughter help him with bits and pieces. He had her help a lot on this one: https://modelshipworld.com/topic/14615-schooner-polotsk-1777-by-mike-y-master-korabel-172/ As I recall, basically supervised and did thinks requiring power tools.
  20. Go look at some of the builds by RGL in the kit area. He is a master at plastic warships.
  21. Medicare (with supplemental insurance) picked up the whole bill for my hearing aids. Just wish they did glasses also.
  22. In addition to turbines, jets, gunfire, let's add loud music, loud car exhaust. And then to top it off, there's the normal hearing loss from just getting older.
  23. Welcome to MSW, Stephan.
