    We had a build here back before the big crash so it's sadly gone of a bireme or maybe a trireme... memory is a bit faded. as I recall, he set up a wheel at both ends with the oar support between them. A motor turned one wheel only and thus because of his oar mounts, the other one rotated. Between them he had simple slice of wood with the ends of the oars mounted it. So he didn't have a much other than radio gear and one motor.

    I'd guess that it was cast from the looks. The difference in dates is good question. How many water tanks were there as built? It's possible that that one or two more were added to ensure water for a voyage.

    When my box gets full, I take the small pieces to the fireplace for kindling. The larger ones go back in the box just in case.

    Thanks for the info on external fuel tanks. I didn't know they were "droppable". Jerry Cans did/do seem to be common on almost all armored vehicles for both fuel and water.

    Just curious... is that fuel tank on aft end in the box art? Seems like a bad idea to even strap a barrel or two of fuel on a tank.

    Hi Chris, Welcome to MSW from down at the lower end of the PNW. You're on the right track and in the right place... Start small and grow from there and do logs as you meet other builders and also get help when needed.

    Welcome to MSW, Tanner. To add to Allan's comment, start a build log. It's a great way to get help, ideas, and meet others.

    I'm guessing on the reversed "N" that one of you two have an early first version of the kit... I suspect it's your's Grant. Whoever did the photo etch must have been confused or perhaps emptying a bottle for a test build? LOL.

    They were very practical back then. Still are, so in that context it makes sense.

    Thanks OC. Decking was removed and not in good shape. The beams and cross-beams have been cleaned up and reset. New decking is on order from Chris. Mean time, I'll focus on the foredeck and get somethings done.

    Thanks for the likes and the ideas. I've put away the power sander.... just not the right tool for this though it did help a little. Been hand sanding, re-seating things. Once every thing is as good as I can make, photos and a deep breath before adding the planking piece which I'm ordering from Chris. So far, the beams are all "ok". I've reseated many of them and giving them a sanding to square things up.

    Just wow!. It takes my breath away. It's that stunning.

    I have a set from a company called "Perfect Line". I found them at my local hobby shop. Not too expensive and not surgical quality but they do work pretty well. If one gets dropped on the floor or bent, I won't create a lot of pain financially. Ending up pointy end down in my foot is different level of pain.

    Welcome to MSW, Krisan. You've had some good advice, but I'll carry it a step further. Start with a simple model with no masts such as a life boat. Then go to one a bit more complex and as you progress, add a mast. Then one with two. Each step will increase in complexity. You didn't tell us where you are located so help with resources might be an issue. The best resource is MSW and it's many Question and Answer forums as well as build logs. Depending on where you are located, perhaps there might a member or two nearby that could help mentor you. One final suggestion... when you find a model to build, open a build log as it's the best way to get help and meet other builders.
