  1. Lovely work, OC. Shaky hands would be a problem. The gaudiness... not sure why they did that. Maybe strike fear in the unmounted enemy? Or something the King liked for parades? The reason is probably lost in time.
  2. I would suspect that those starting out, don't really know the difference between what's a good idea for them and a good idea for the seller. Once one gets into the hobby and learns a bit, they then start making their own jigs, etc. The infamous Loomaline for making shrouds comes to mind. It's all part of the learning curve.
  3. Welcome to MSW, Nathan. Good looking display case. BTW, are those trophies on the left of the bottom shelf?
  4. I hope it doesn't involve a fireplace. In spite of the shortcomings you pointed out, it looks really good.
  5. Sort of a jack-of-all-trades type of tank. Much like one of those pocket knives with pliers, blades, screw drivers, and scissors. Needed to be ready for any situation.
  6. At this rate, I suspect you'll be bald by the time the kit is finished. Sounds like a real hair-puller.
  7. Please post in English as this is an English webisite. If needed, you can use Google Translate in order to post in English.
  8. That "what ever it is" appears to be signaling device to the engine room for speed. I think telegraph is right word but deep into engine powered craft I'm not sure. As the deck areas get populated this going to a nice model of a rare topic around here.
  9. For there's who don't know or aren't familiar.. here's the Wikipedia article on the battle: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_off_Samar. The unit was known as Taffy 3. The men on those ships were indeed heroes.
  10. Possibly "reputation" and the myths that boosted them? Back in my control line flying days, I went for the German ones. Maybe it was the colors and the looks?
  11. Truth there. They use a truck chassis and go from there so "stiff truck suspension". I remember when we had one and having to put towels between each dish in the cupboard before moving it. I did move a model once and it was, shall we say, a bit of nighmare. The way I did it, no case, but a large box fill with styrefoam peanuts. The box in tern, was roped down on the couch as it was the midpoint of the RV. And the condition of many roads is also a vibration factor.
  12. Not good news except for carrying on the build. By "hazardous" I'm thinking you let the smoke out of the parts? Hopefully you can either repair or replace.
  13. No worries, Kurtis. You're in good company here. As for uniforms... do a Google for "military uniforms"... and also explore Wikipedia. Depending on the era and country, there's lots of stuff out there. Also, ask the question in the Ship Plans and Project Research area.
  14. I suspect those two parts were put there in development and then found not to be needed as I have them sitting in my "spares" box for now. There's a few others like that and some are actual spares in case you break one.
  15. I believe that's normal for any craft or design work. The more you work at it and with it, the better it becomes. Don't be embarrassed as learning curve can be steep.
  16. In a nutshell.. that one sums things up nicely along with the manufacturer comments.
  17. The tank looks out of place though maybe time warp did it? From here the cart looks pretty good and about the right size.
  18. The crew deserves extra grog rations for sure. Just keep an eye on them so they don't stagger over the side.
  19. Have a look. I found his "models under fire" to have a definite "wow" factor. https://www.youtube.com/c/EbroinSong/videos
  20. Maybe the concept of "museum quality" is in play here. You'll need a museum to display it.
  21. If you have to start over, run a length of brass tubing inside to the bottom and attach a small diameter flexable tubing to an aquarium air pump. That should push out any air borne gases.
