The original maker of the glass case came out to collect the second broken one - he was going to repair it and bring it back out to us - it was not fair on him doing that so I to him to call it quits and keep the money I had paid in good faith to cover all his costs. I found a larger plastics (acrylics) company and did an online request got a quote accepted it - it took about Three weeks to make and deliver. Its been an expensive endeavour for a display case - deffo a One Off. OC.

@mtaylor And others I have just found this bit of writting about Shako Plumes - I Quote The plumes were liked by Napoleon, in some early fight, he discovered that the tall color plumes magnified his soldiers' appearance and caused the enemy to fire too soon and too high. The soldiers like the plumes during parades and generally in peacetime. In combat, however, they thought that the color plumes attracted far too much attention from enemy's artillery and skirmishers. It was also impossible to hide in tall crops and surprise the enemy with a sudden attack. The enemy saw your tall plumes before you saw him. So you wasn't far off Mark. OC.

Hi there Eugenio, Let me cut straight to the chase and say to you sir - with the kit you took on - with what you had in front of you in the box, you have done a Marvelous job, it was always going to be tough with this kit (For Anyone) but you have excelled with this kit stamping your own personality on it - that you will take forward with you into future builds. Keep up the good work. OC.

Hi there folks, I have still been at it with the latest group of figures - I give myself about Three hours at the benche to save my eyes from suffering from using a powerful pair of optovisors, in this time last night I concentrated on painting the Eight faces - I start off with a pale pinky/sand colour, this has two coats, then I brush over my Citadel Agrex Earthshade Wash - this brings out the details like the eye sockets that would not be seen without it, after I use a more pink version of paint to bring out the cheek side details followed up with more of the pinky/sand colour on the nose/chin/cheeks, its a hit and miss job with several re-go's and touch ups till I am happy with the result. After doing these I decided to touch up my Three Cuirassiers as I felt I could sharpen them a bit - same as above with better face details and I gave the horses some Black/White details followed up with an all over wash with my Earthshade (only on the horses mind) this brings out the details and gives the horses a slight sheen as they would have been. I did not have time to take any pics but I will later today. OC.

I think he may have been referring to their ground handling - I'm sure he told me some of the Erk's had to hang of the rear tail to keep the nose because of the more powerful engine - he did tell me about some of the mods to UK FAA versions like the clipped wing (by Eight Inches each side) for carrier hanger clearance when folded, also something about them bouncing on the deck when landing - needing the shocks to be softened - and the seat being lifted up for better view through the Bubble canopy Brit versions had. About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
