    Yeah the unit was going vertualy free but I had to go over and diss-assemble it first, the person I got it from was pleased to see it go and wasn't sure it would come apart without damage, it did - I knew my old carpentry skills would come in useful. Best thing is - it fits a treat in the space I made for it. OC.

    I have a new home for the pearl and others built, I had to diss-assemble and re-assemble it yesterday, it is a mainly glass unit with a wood back - top and bottom, I have a few more kits to be built that will share the space when ready. OC.

    Have you tried a heat sink - even a croc clip would help direct some of the heat away. OC.

    Your doing fine mate, my farther leaned soldering as a matelot while doing his different stages through the FAA then combined RAF, he then pased some of his knowledge onto me - he always told me (make a strong joint - any over seems can be filed down). OC.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955.
