There's a little M.C. Escher in the first two photos the way the posts line up. I had to focus a bit. Very nice work Augie.

Mahuna...I just ordered it....thanks for the info. Rich, sorry to hijack your log with this stuff. Probably good info for the resources section of the site. BTW - that jig you made on the previous page - does that mean you are working on this from the bedroom? :)

Daniel, I have to 'get me' one of those surgical robotic arms you MUST be using to get these figurines so detailed. Wow. Congratulations. Fun, fascinating detail.

Really nice Augie. I love the blackened brass and natural wood look. I am not usually one to add a critique but is the breeching to bulwark attachment a little close to the gun carriage? It probably does not matter but I was curious.

Very nice mini-project with the barges. Well done. A question - how did you make the foot grating in the bilges?

...Just a note to let people know I am still alive... Life has gotten in the way of hobbies. Fran broke her ankle. My free time (if any) has changed as a result. It will be a few months before we are back to normal. I WAS working on a a model of the FROG room which I had hoped to convert and add a modeling area for the Connie build. A model was needed so Fran can move the furniture and not hurt MY back. Since it is modeling (i.e. model ship building area) related I will post a pick of that progress later. PS: I know you guys have well wishes and they are appreciated so much. Just give me a PM if you have a question. Thanks. Dave

Nice stove anyway ... sorry it can't be used here. I too had the eyebolts placed after the deck was installed. Yours look sooo much better. I had predictable problems - between the deck cambor, bulwark angle, drill angle, and fat fingers - the gun tackle became tedious but the results are good. I really like the train tackle you have installed. I did not yet 'tackle' that on my build.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
