  1. Mike, Now you are talking about making a nice tug..... On the other hand what you have right now is what I like to have as well. Good enough for me.
  2. Bulwark, A warm and non-windy welcome to
  3. Kenny, Warm welcome to the Longboat group. I will follow along and just pulled up a chair, but where is the coffee?
  4. Mike, I thought a reduction gear was to be good as well. What is the rpm on the motor (lowest)?
  5. Rich, That surely is deep char. I thought that my boat I currently had deep one, but yours is even worse. I am sorry. Lots of sanding.
  6. Scott, Warm You have now found a new homestead. Thank you for your service.
  7. Mike, the pictures you uploaded is of S/S Blidösund, which also is a Steamer. Edit: She belongs to Waxholms Bolaget, the smoke stack gave it away. And you are 100 % right, about Inland traffic with Mariefred and archipelago traffic. I think it's time to give CaptainBob his build log back. Sorry Bob
  8. Denis, I still like the build of yours. So unfortunate you have to live with the "like" clicks.
  9. Denis, Do you mean its being used to much? Sorry in that case I have no solution.
  10. The first set of simulated frames are installed. I had a big sheet of Basswood laying around that I used, that I stripped using my balsa-stripper tool. Even though the majority of this will be hidden underneath the interior deck I know it's there.
  11. Derek, I use that type of gloves when it comes to cutting meat. Better a sharp knife than a dull!
  12. I am so glad having the amazing fine-tooth razor blade saw. Makes it so much more easier to cut the tabs remaining after laser-cut. This specially with thicker material. Dry-fitting items is good to, then I will see what is to come and be expected. Obvious there is a lot of considerations. The deck is laser-cut with grooves. Okay I got to admit, with the kingplank it is perfect. But then again, my scratch mind started working. Since I am to have bulkhead strings under the hull planks and interior, I started wondering if I should plank the deck with separate planks?! Something to think over, I don't have to make any decision right now. I can make it easy for me or make this build longer time-wise. Then the open area, in the cockpit and seating I am to have the "simulated bulkheads". See starboard side of open area of the ral boat.
  13. Bob, I take it you have done a lot of research before approaching this adventure. Found another picture of Mariefred dated 1903. Don't know if you have it or not. But others following your log, it could be interesting.
  14. Mike, The tug is coming together nicely, what specifications is there of the motor provided? Some day I will build the tug, maybe doing a dual shaft. Which could be fun.
  15. Okay, I now have seven planks on each side installed, I can go ahead and finalize the starboard side while waiting for replacement parts from TurkModel. But I decided to stop here, and start working on details for the interior. Even though hardly anything will be visible from the cabin area and I have all time in the world to do these things. I will make the bunks that are supposed to be in there.. And why not do it, the boat is all open, easy access for those things. But most important is to start treating the wood for up-coming varnish. I have during the day dropped an email to the company behind her, hoping something positive will come out from there. Swedish company - my native language - Swedish.
  16. CaptainBob, Where you read "spantdistans", means distance between bulkheads - so right there is a measurement. That "Z" is an old version of todays mm
  17. I rebuild the seating area, so that many more can get comfortable and enjoy the coffee and snacks. It's more like an amphitheater so all of you can get a good view.
  18. Keith, thank you for the comment and yes there are very few frames for such a big boat. Planking is coming along, nothing exciting But here is another planking picture.
  19. Derek, Sometimes they laser cut two items since they have the space, same thing happened with the build of my longboat. There were extra pieces not being used.
