  1. Julie, Hmm, wondering if double sided tape could be to help! This way you can cut and adjust all the pieces, once that is done you will have a port and starboard side and it's just to glue into place. May be to late at this stage.
  2. Steve, I bought rigging and running lines from Chuck. Such better quality.
  3. Well, It's amazing how small things can "disappear". I think I have re-made the bands three times because of their capabillity of "flying". Had another made yesterday. Meanwhile I seized the line on the gaff. The line will get shaped with a light touch of glue before the peak halyard is seized in place. I am starting to enjoy the seizing even though it is very fiddly and small work to do. I bought a poly/cotton line from a fabric store, stronger than regular cotton but still easy to work with.
  4. Steve, Make paper template of the platform and glue the planks in place. Let dry. Notch carefully, in segments. Hope that will help.
  5. I have no experience with the products from BlueJacket Inc. But as their models are made "in place" I guess their instructions should be well written as well. Besides they have all sorts of entry level models. Check out their videos, which might help as well.
  6. Michael, What kind of heat source did you use? I think Chuck used the highest setting with the hairdryer and used it for a some time to get the bend. As for the CA, have a little fan (i.e cpu fan) to move the air away from the glue so you don't have to inhale the fumes.
  7. Mike, I am so proud of you and your daughter. This is priceless. And she has already done a great progress. I reserved my seat for this build log too.
  8. Chris that planking looks very nice. And the Seahawks Patriotso game a thriller.
  9. Aydin, You have done a fantastic job! Now time for maiden voyage and we need a video as well.
  10. Scratches on plexiglass can be buffed out, using fine compound for cars. Well depending on the depth of it.
  11. The instructions tells me it is time to consider type of pedestals and base. Considering the size of the longboat, I am making the base small, and using brass as pedestal. Pictures will follow. Picked up the material from Hobby-Lobby.
  12. Downside with acrylic, not so scratch resistant. Downside with glass, can break and shatter.
  13. Well, it's called trial and error. I'm currently working on set three of rings and bands. It's the drilling that destroys some of them. Getting there anyway.
  14. Mr. Pucko Two words. Great work. Now we want more.
  15. That's a very nice rudder installation. Well done and it gave the idea of using that system.
  16. It start looking like a ship! Very nice!
  17. Bob, What a difference! Guess you're glad you waited for the replacement.
  18. Well, I used my five minutes this day (turned out to be fifteen but still), and made the iron rings for the top blocks. Another step forward.
  19. Jerry, It would be a shame installing false keel, but maybe the only option. Or are you able to fill the hull with lead ballast enough to prevent any "maiden voyage accident".
  20. This is like waiting for a good Jack-in-a-box, and I am not talking about food.
