  1. Mike, Seems like the cross sections kits are on the hights right now. Your start and being inspired by Cobr@, well I am taking the first seat on this build. Having Cobr@ as a reference you can't go wrong. This is looking good.
  2. Bob, I think you should revise the size of the base, and case. The Longboat itself is not that big, so I would consider a smaller base and case. Some where out there is a relation chart between model size and case size. However, what you have accomplished with the base and more is amazing. Beautiful done!
  3. Maury, I have been looking at the angle measuring tool from Mikro-Mark (think this is in their RR section) so with other words, it works?!
  4. Thank you Chuck for that explanation. I have been wondering the same and it seems Cheerful isn't the only one with this configuration.
  5. Chuck, I didn't know you had ninja skills as well. Hopefully you don't have chards of small pieces laying around, be thourogh with the clean up.
  6. Pat, Happy Modeling Birthday, this is the day when we hide from greeters (after a certain age) and truly engaging with our ships. Any way, Happy Birthday! Besides I like all the knots!
  7. Looks like you have it prefect aligned with frame #5 in center for the picture. Like the idea of using plexiglas for alignment.
  8. I contacted the providers of the kit and so far this one is not available in the USA for subscription. And probably not ever. So I am really looking forward to see this kit coming together.
  9. Mobbsie, at what scale are you building this lovely Lancia Armata. With those dimensions she will be heavy. I know you are meaning mm and not meter. Just giving you a hard time.
  10. Due to an accident, I am short of five parts for planking. Because of this I don't feel to work forward. I am currently in contact with the retailer for the kit, who in their turn are in contact with manufacturer for replacement part. I hope this will have a positive outcome. If not, I have taken pre-active measures to have other material available. As for price of the extra material I am not that thrilled, but I think the final finish will truly justify the extra cost. Considering the original boat had mahogany planking my solution should be fine.
  11. Erik, This build log is probably the cleanest I ever seen. The pictures are great too. Looking forward to more.
  12. Dan Have you weight your yacht yet? Some designed displacements are around 300 grams.
  13. Dan, Unless you are intending of racing it doesn't matter if you have extra weight. Otherwise, light as possible within class regulations.
  14. Jim, that wss good a good call. Electronical problems are worse than mechanical. Glad to hear you are back up running the machines.
  15. Jim Thank you for your input. I think the bottom line from many of us is digging into the check and credit book for the investment and knowing what you are getting. I am fortunate and was able to buy a barely used thickness sander of yours from a friend. I know the quality behind. And I won't go with anything else but your table saw, when I have the money. How much I will use it? I don't know! Can I justify the investment? Very likely. So, here is my thoughts. When the day comes for me to stop modelling (which will never happen, unless an accident prevents me), and I have several of Byrnes Machines, there will be a higher value than any other machines out there. No wonder it is so hard to find a used Byrnes table saw. My last cents, now I have to start saving them for a Byrnes table saw.
  16. Aydin, I see you still have the Riva in the build slip, I would have removed it before any varnishing is applied this to avoid any splashing on the slip. But that's only my two cents. However, you are doing an amazing progress with her, she will be a big beauty on the water.
  17. Who knows, maybe with all this type of attention to a very specific product HobbyZoneUsa might be a sponsor. With my new workshop I will certainly have some of the modules.
