ive ordered some scale bricks from an internet site to see how they will look for the plate under the stove, not sure how to make the lime mortar as robin points out or even how to fasten them in but will have to experiment when they arrive

Paul,

your build is beautiful, the hull with all the woodwork and joinings is a pleasure to see, and the stove tops it all. Fantastic modeling !!

I've had a couple of weeks off from Sirius and the cutter over Christmas under orders from her who must be obeyed, she suggested I made something for her mother as she is more into the boats that I'm making than the wife, in fact she has my old cutty Sark on her mantelpiece, I found on eBay a constructo kit for a Thames steam barge, the model had already been started and all the frames etc were missing but for £10 I thought what the hell

As we live in Cookham which some of you may know (Druxey does) we are on the side of the Thames so I thought this wold be perfect for her, it arrived the day before Xmas eve, I cut my own bulkheads from the sheets still in the box and laid the first plank at 12.15 on Xmas eve

This is the finished job today and I'm giving it to her tomorrow as a belated Xmas present.

The 24ft cutter is nearing completion so I have started cutting the bulkheads for the 26ft cutter and pinnace, I'm using chucks version from his longboat with bulkheads and a false keel that is sanded down afterwards

Bulkheads for the 26ft cutter cut out on the dremel scroll saw and then sanded, I've also added a tenon at the top for a strengthening and clamping aid down the centre, which can be seen on the right with a couple of frames already added

With much trepidation I got the washstrake on the 24ft cutter, actually went a lot easier than I thought, much cleaning up needed but it certainly makes the boat look more finished

Planking finished and frames thinned quite a bit

I could/should/can thin them down some more but its rather frightening the planks are so thin, if you hold it up to the light you can see right through, I probably should have done the frames before sending the outsideWP_20180124_18_46_00_Pro.thumb.jpg.516b78834222f853e5be34b34f685eb0.jpg

I have realised that I am following the boat plans from the aots Diana the wrong way round, the first one I did in the background above will now become a rigged display model, the 24ft launch should be a two masted affair and clinker built planking, so I will have to redo that one and make the 26ft cutter with anchor winch at the back

All from mahogany so they match the syrius which will look better in the long run anyway

I really envy how all you people show such beautiful clean pictures, that last picture of mine looks awful with all the cr** in the background

Paul

Haha, about all that c**p in the background... you should see my photos. All kinds of weird stuff. I think it makes for interesting thoughts "wonder what he will use THAT for"

Oh, and also, very nice launches Paul. Keep it up.
