It goes together by trial and error fitting. If you have some re-stickeable 3M Magic tape you can lay a piece down in the gap and trace the shape you need. Peel off the tape and stick it on your planking stock. Cut the plank a hair oversize and sanding stick it down until it just slips into place. Labor intensive? Yes! But, with care, the result is well worth the trouble.

Thats what i have been doing. Got the port side done but was wondering if there was a better way to do this. Its a real pain in the butt.  Ill tackle the starboard side tomorrow.. Once i get  the first layer in the curves can be replaced with straight lines which will be mush easier to fit.

Innovative tool Kevin! For planking I would use tapered offcuts as wedges slipped between the ledge of the margin plank and the deck plank being glued. You can generate a surprising amount of pressure  with tapered wedges. It's also efficient as you can just narrow them for the next run of planking.

Boy I wish I had thought of this!  I have been making clamps and jigs for decks and planks for several years, but I like your idea better than any of my own. I don't normally post, but there is always a first time. Thanks for letting me enjoy watching your efforts!

Great idea and I will make some. Sorry to seem stupid, but why do we need the deck planks tightly against each other. I usually leave a tiny gap to "emphasise " my non-existent caulking!!

Apple has put out a new modeling table saw.

kidding. I have long wanted to upgrade the Preac to roll on its own and to keep all its accessories. I gutted my old Apple pro computer and mounted it on the top. Now looking for another one for the Proxxon chop saw.

Hi Kevin - I photocopy the plans and then carefully cut out each piece with some very sharp scissors and glue them to the wood.  It saves an awful lot of drawing.

Agree- if it works. If not, leave margin around and by trial and error, snip off to fit. Paper is quicker and cheaper if you have a plan to work to; if not, card. ( those given with the local pizzas are perfect.)

Just started following your build but still need to go to the beginning and really study your posts. A comment on paper patterns which I also use for cutting is try using the glue sticks that are used for school work, photo albums, etc. It holds very tightly to the wood when cut and washes off with water leaving no residue.

Amazing work i'm looking forward to reading your log from the start.
