I have just found your log for the first time after seeing your completed model in the gallery. I wish I had found it sooner! I am very impressed by the beauty and precision of all your work - in particular your rigging and woodworking skills set a very high standard for the rest of us to aim for.

I also discovered the log only after seeing the gallery pictures. Reading from the beginning was worthwhile and increases the appreciation of the quality of work. Many helpful tips. How did you make those mast hoops and miniature hinges on the doors?

Thank you very much Erik, Derek and Ron for the nice words!

@stuglo: The mast hoops are in fact Syren parts made for the Cutter Cheerful but I was fortunate that they also fit the AVS due to equal mast diameter. The hinges are fake hinges, only a short piece of brass (about 1,5 mm) wire blacked and glued to the edge of the doors or soldered to a brass strip (for example on the roof of the companionway). All doors are designed as non-functional, so no need for functional hinges.

This is a stunningly beautiful model you have built, Captain. It is most certainly one of the finest ever completed here on MSW. Congratulations!

I'm a bit late to your finishing party, but wanted to say fantastic job @captain_hook, she is beautiful and your presentation with that slipway is incredible.  Going to be hard for the next guy to top this one!

Congratulations on finishing and good luck with your next endeavor.

Thank you very much Gunther. I wonder where you have been all the time.

Life seems to take us in unexpected directions sometimes, and I've just been busy and distracted with other things.  I've started three shipbuilding projects but none of them have progressed very far and all of them have been untouched for quite a while now.

Starting to get the itch to get back in the workshop, but we'll just have to see how it goes!  All the projects and the workshop are intact, it's more a matter of time and motivation!

Take care.

Greetings, sir! My compliments on your brilliant craftsmanship. I started this model about ten years ago, was forced to abandon it, and intend to start fresh anew. Your work is inspiring.

Thank you very much. It was a pleasure to build and has a very fine manual. Good luck for your build!
