Thanks Mark. The work has been finished. I just need to sort out the easiest way to get the enormous data files to those wishing to purchase them.  It will include some kick-*** videos as well! The complete works should be available in January. In the meantime here are a couple of photos of the model on the open seas.

Well - I guess the bar has just been raised:)

These results are really unbelievable. I definitely want a copy whenever it is available.

As an aside. I would pay a good deal for the .ble files as I think they would be of immense value to anyone, like moi, that is working with Blender for the first time. I would sign any non-copy, non-distribution clauses necessary.

please bear in mind those are just renders of the building process. the 3D model itself is not 100% finished yet, I'm still in the process of making sails. once that is finished I'll put the 3D model on sale on one (or several) of the online 3d marketplaces. but more on that in due time...

cheers!

Looks impressive !

But I was wondering, why stem, keel, and sternpost were left in natural wood colour ? They surely would have also been painted in the white bottom concoction.

hi all!

well, it's been a long time since I posted anything related to this beautiful ship. I am repeating myself now but I do hate digital ropes. finding motivation to continue with the sails was near impossible for me. but now... something clicked in my head, apparently. I don’t know if the sky’s gonna fall on our heads or what, but it seems I’ve managed to find some motivation to continue with the sails. main topsail done…

and I even feel like continuing, lol…

Welcome back Denis! I doubt that most of our followers are aware that you have further developed the 3D model with sails and ropes to accommodate gamers (where the big bucks are). I'm sure that 99.9% of them will not notice that your rope is laid left-handed vs the traditional right-handed method so I won't point that out 😉. Still, if you are able to reverse the lay with the simple click of a button I know you will do it as you are OCD when it comes to details.

hey Greg!

well, you're completely right about OCD! would you believe I haven't paid an ounce of attention about how the ropes are laid? so, naturally, now I'll have to devote an entire pass just to organizing them properly. and, also naturally, I'll credit you for contributing to my ever increasing hatred toward 3D ropes 🤣

cheers!

continuing while I have enough steam in my system. fore topsail done. and, I have switched rope lay direction. now it should be OK, except where the rope is mirrored to conserve memory...

Druxey, that's also on my to-do list, along with furled sails, so one will be able to mix and match them as-needed. still debating on studding sails, though...

topgallants done... this is going great. I don't know why all of you made such a fuss about the sails... 🤣🤣🤣 just kidding, of course. I'm already kicking myself for not doing them sooner... now, off to the spritsail...

spritsail is done. next up, the jibsail. this time it might take a while, as I have to make those forward/aft sails first. previous sails I've made earlier, just had to tie them...

I'm still to this day fascinated how you guys are able to spot such small details! I thought of omitting drainage holes, but now I obviously can't anymore... 🤣
