Battle of Waterloo Attack on La Haye Sainte Farm by Old Collingwood - 1/56 (28mm)

Recommended Posts

Evening all,  just for a  change  I have  returned  to  figure  painting  -  here  is  one  to surprise you, in the shape of a  3rd  KGL Hussar, similar  to the  English Hussars,  he will be placed on the  edge of the  Garden  Hedge  close to the  Royal Horse  Guards  (The Blues).

I have got a bit more  to do on him   -  I will  do a  wee bit  of slightly lighter  shade Blue  for  high lights  on his  jacket and  pelisse, then my flat coat  to seal  him.

Morning all,  so after putting my  KGL 3rd Hussar  away,  I have started  on my  Dutch  27th  Jager,  I have  used  one of my  French  line  infantry  as  they  share very  similar  uniforms,  so far  I have  cut away  his lower  left side  at the  back  of his  coat  where  his  sword and  bayonet  was, this  has been replaced  with  a  British  bread bag  and water bottle, that  has been  cut away from one of my  British figures  then  trimmed to fit  and glued in place, I have  also  filed  away the  Shako  plate as I will  attempt to  paint in  the Dutch  design  that's  a  horn  -  that's  all  I have  done  to him  so far  hence  why no pics  Yet.

A bit of history  of  why I am  including a  single  Jager  figure  in my dio  -   at Waterloo  the  27th   Jager  skirmishers  where  famed out  in front of the  ridge  running  from the  road  all the  way  across, when the  French  columns  advanced  and  got neat  the bulk of the  Dutch Jagers  fell back, however  I am  placing  my  single  figure  on the road  with  the  95th rifles  firing  towards the  French.

Evening all,   I have  placed  my Jager  after  cutting him away from his  base,  I  have stood  him in on of the  wheel ruts  and  added some water  around and over  his  shoes, so  he is assisting the  95th  firing on the  French  from about  30 yards.

I have  also  thrown in another arty shot  from the  front.

Morning all,    not much in the way of a  progress  report,   I am  still  doing some work  on a few of my  French figures  including another injured  fellow,  to be honest  I am  having laptop  problems  at the  moment with  my keyboard  - I am loosing kets faster than I can say "loosing keys"  my backspace key  -  Arrow Left  - Up and Down  -  "At"  key  and  question mark keys  are not working,   I have  got my  on screen keyboard  but its a  pain  to use  and  not  fluent  like using the  ordinary keyboard.

I have  done  all the   fixes  through my software  from re instaling  the  drivers  to  making sure the  BIOS is  up to date, infact  about an hour ago  I had a real scare  - I had installed a  so called  fix  for  the  keyboard drivers,  and  after  re starting  it had disabled my  whole keyboard  and  I could  not enter  my  laptops  password  - after about  15mins  of sweating  and  thinking my laptop  was dead - I  then found  that I could  bring up the  on screen keyboard  in the  pre start page  and use that  to  put my  pass  in.    I then  went through  my  installed  drivers  that  had caused  the  lock out  - I then  uninstalled them and  that  did the trick.

The  keyboard  is  still  the same  with those keys  - but ateast I can get  into it.

"Phewwww"

OC.  Been there and done that.   If you can, take into a computer shop and have them look at it.  It may (fingers crossed) just need to opened up and everything cleaned up.

Hi Mark,    thats  out of my  financial  capability tbh,  I had  it looked  at today  in our  only PC shop  and  they  estimate  in the range of £100 - £150  for replacement   keyboard  (as everything  inside  will need  to come out first)   and  the same  with a  replacement  screen  -  not good.

OC... Paul is right about the USB port and external keyboard.  I forgot about being able to do that.  Might even be able to find a used one somewhere.

Thank you kindly Mark,   but a  physical  plug in keyboard  would  just not work  as I sit with my laptop on my lap in my chair  or  on the bed  and  there  is  just no room to  put an extrnal keyboard.

I do have the  virtual  keyboard  that  I can call up  on my screen  - I just  hover over the  key I want to  hit  and  just  Normal click,  its  just not as  fast  as    doing the  instant  backspace   when you  have typed a  wrong letter.

I have a  keyboard  checker  as part of my  diagnostics  and  it  has  told  me  I have about  Ten keys  out  that  just wont  work,  and these anoying dark patches  at the  bottom of my screen  -  think soe of the  backlight  thingies  have died.

OC.
