HMCS Snowberry by Hsae - Revell - 1/72 - PLASTIC

Recommended Posts

I got Gator’s Grip for glueing phot etch today. I bought them first in 2014 (rear bottles) and surprisingly they didn’t work anymore. Lol

The advantage is that you have time to align the parts or correct the position vs. CA glue. Plus you can easily clean up with water if necessary.

I am, I'm just probably a ways from building them as I want to get my skills up to do them justice.  I have the Revell 1/144 kit with Pontos set and the 1/72 kit with the David Parkins upgrade.  I was just looking at some build logs of the corvettes earlier this week which is putting a fire under me to want to get some other kits done so I can turn to them!

Great work there!  And thanks for the pictures of the Tenacity.  I've seen some of them but those are really high resolution, thanks!

USS Tenacity looks like a Measure 12 Modified scheme. Here's the page on the Ship Camouflage website: https://shipcamouflage.com/measure_12_modified.htm

It was an early war scheme, used on a number of USN ships.

At the weekend I was fuzzing around with some paint. I was trying the “salt” method, but I didn’t really like it how it came out.

I also painted the hull with “Schnellboot Weiß” because I didn’t get the original white (RN10), but I hope it is still Ok, compared to the true white. For my taste it was just too white.

I had also some fun with the funnel. It was too thin! But I was able to fix it with some styrene strips.

Looks fantastic!  Kudos to you to building a second Hedgehog.  That was probably a tough decision, but the second looks very nice.  Well done!

Today I was working on the bandstand for the 2pdr. Gun

I glued the two bottom pieces together and soldered the bandstand side wall to it. Which was easier than I thought it would be.

After that, I glued the rivet strips to the side wall. The handrail was a challenge but with patient it was finally done. The crew shelter was bend and glued together. It was actually with one bottom sheet, but I blended it one time in the wrong direction and it separated. Luckily it was not a big deal.

You can see the big difference between the kid bandstand (although modified already) and the GLS bandstand. The quality of the GLS parts are outstanding.
