I cheated on mine by printing the panels, but then again, I don't expect them to be readily seen. Yours however, are wonderful and will probably be more visible. Well done!

Mizzen mast bitts were fabricated and installed.

The frames of the hatchways on the spar deck were made and glued in place along with the ladders.

looks great 

i’m on hatches in my build as well.  in the time it took me to make jigs to build 1 test corner of a hatch you completly built all of yours!  And they look perfect

Even with machines, I can't produce as quickly as you.  If doesn't help that my shipyard has been without power for nearly a week..

I was away from my shipyard for a while because I had other things to do. I'm happy to be back again. I completed the assembly of the commodores cabin walls and doors that I started before.

Thank you Nils, I haven't decided yet whether to add the rigging or not but I'll keep building as if I will.

I'm beginning the process of planking the spar deck, and am researching how other builders have tackled this.  I took note of your methodology on planking the gun deck, where you cut planks short instead of cutting long strips and scribing in butt joints.  (I saw the reference marks on your carrier deck for the butt joints.)  However, I did notice that you did not taper the planks there. 

 

What's your plan for the spar deck?  Will you be tapering the planks as you work your way aft?

Hello Peter.

Since I will plank the spar deck to a minimum (only the center of the ship and possibly the areas under the guns) there will be no need to taper the planks. But if I were to completely cover the spar deck, I would taper the planks at the aft because it would be more realistic and look better.

Wow, that's an interesting approach.  I was wondering why you went to so much detail on the gun deck if most of it would be hidden by the spar deck. Now I understand. You're going to Showcase your work on the gun deck, and I can't wait to see that. Thanks

I can't work much these days because my shipyard is very hot in the summer months and I don't have access to cooling. I think this situation will continue until September. I don't want you to think that I've given up on building the model.

I never for one moment thought that you would put this project to rest. I remember that you took a break last summer as well. Enjoy your summer and stay cool.
