I am a user of acrylics for the same reason but the sources for decent paint are hard to get.  Poly S was good before they were bought out and I like Modelflex by Badger but they have to be shipped.  The Hobby Lobby in Waterloo has Vallejo and I think I will go that route once I get to painting again easier clean up no bad smells.  Thanks for the info.

Hello to all, Simon welcome aboard. David-Mike-Slog-Patrick-Don-Brian-Nigel (UpstateNY)-Jeff-Nigel (NMBROOK)-Bob, I do thank you for all the likes and for your visits to my build log. :)

So...work on the shipyard continues..The lamp with the magniffying lens above my head explode...And the first thing I thought,  after the proper language.. Oh darn !!! the ship...  I check the construction and everything it's ok!! :P

Here are some pictures with the progress of Amerigo... The instructions shows how to make these lines with a pencil..I did not like it  ..so i made this.. Then glue the furnitures on the stern deck, then the radar and then I start to place the stanchions and handrails to the stern's cap rail (i hope that this is a term). Sorry about the quality of photos but as i said above the lamp is out..

Kind Regards

Dimitris

Hello shipmates, Lawrence-Brian-Nigel-Mike-Patrick-David-Nigel, I do thank you, for all the likes and comments. :)  :)  The first thing i did ...Fixed my lamp... lol :P

So.. an update regarding the stanchions and hand rails on the stern deck, I cut the handrails as instructions point, this is the point that the big lifeboat hangs out. After cutting them off,  applied one coat of primer  and then i painted them white with a brush. Also i have ordered last week the 152 portholes from rb models ...and waiting!

Kind Regards

Dimitris

Hello shipmates, David B-Patrick--Jeff-Nigel (NMBROOK) ,I appreciate your kind words of support . :)

Nils-Brian-Don-Nigel I do thank you for your visits to my build log and also for your likes. :)

I was thinking how to simulate the black plates under the eyepins that are placed throughout the deck. So i found these plastic pieces from packaging... I painted them black and i cut them in half . I drilled them, and then put the eyepins inside. 8 are ready, 72 to go...   Also the 2 windlasses on the stern deck are in place.

Kind Regards

Dimitris

Ahem Dimitris....did you say a 'small update'...?

As far as I can see, there's nothing small about what you've achieved. Damn good stuff!

Hello Dimitris; After  enjoying a great summer I'v just tuned back into your site and I must say you are truly a dedicated modeller when it comes to

putting great detail into your model work. I only wish I would spend more time in my shop to do half the work you do on your building. I look forward to your progress and hope what I see will inspire me to put more time at my own model work.

Cheers from Nova Scotia

Hi Dimitris

Darn, she's looking absolutely brilliant! Heaps of details. Lots to look at.

Nicely done!

Cheers

Patrick

G'day Dimitris

All I can say is WOW and ditto!

Been 'off the air' for a month or so, been very busy with my dad in hospital etc.

Keep up the great work!

Hello Dimitris!

First of all: thank you for your nice words on my build log. :-)))

You made me curious to watch your build. Until now I have never watched out for the Amerigo Vespucci. Maybe because she is just too "modern". Now, after watching your build I have to say: this was a big mistake. She is beautiful! And your build make her special!!

The first thing I thought when I see the beginning of you build was: WOW, that is too good for a first-planking. Later, with color, I did not believe that it was a model. :-)

Keep on that good work. I am excited to see more of your model. Dimitri, you teaches me one thing: even a different type of model from another age can have a lot of charm and soul. Sorry, my english is not good enough to exactly describe what I feel by watching a good model. It´s like diving into another time and feeling the ship, the sea, the wind...

Best wishes to you

Heinz welcome aboard , thank you for your encouraging words and for all the likes. I consider myself as a beginner regarding the ship building . This ship struck me when I first saw it .... And i said to myself that i have to build it.... This is my second build..For my third build i chose Royal Caroline 1749 (which requires much better planking techniques)..

P.S.  Your English is great (my English needs more practice)... :) :)

All the best

Dimitris

Wonderful work Dimitris...she is looking fabulous.  :)

Also amazed at your fast progress...you have to be getting close to starting the masts or am I missing a few steps here?

Cheers,

Thank you Nigel for your likes and for your kind comments.. I'm thinking of fixing the bowsprit in place first with all the chains, netting and blocks ( but i have to be very careful after that with my movements... Then the stanchions and hand rails under the bowsprit.  I'm also thinking of leaving the life boats last so as to have more space when i am working at the masts and rigging.

Cheers
