Glad to hear of the progress Adriaan. Hopefully you won't go mad with a 3000 piece puzzle and can get back to your build soon

For my two cents worth i can hardly add much to Adelines' response as she hit most of the points that I would bring up. Aesthetics are key to the builder and I for one am building for my pleasure first and for accuracy second. I am not that experienced a builder to think 'museum quality' so I can be flexible about being true to the original. There is a saying here on MSW... your ship, your decisions. For most this is a hobby to enjoy with color schemes and various kit/scratch build alterations (bashing) left to the shipwright.

Looking good Robbyn. one step closer to putting this first build on the done shelf. Also, one step closer to Sturgis... it starts next monday I think ... august 5th right?... when during all the activity is the wedding? I imagine you'll be out of touch starting this weekend. So...early congratulations! :D We will, naturally, need pics...

Oh, you'd get a call if she would listen to me... but... I can see it now... 'dear, Sjors sad I am free of doing the dishes until next summer' once she stopped laughing she would then inform me I picked up floor scrubbing duty as well :D after of course... doing the dishes

I think complaining about weather is a human trait...not just the Dutch... Americans' do it ALL the time... if it's cold, when will it warm up, if it snows, when we it be gone (even when it just started a minute ago) etc. etc. Never happy ...

I think it looks good Eric. Some sanding will smooth out the slight uneven spots. This is a single hull right? Are you going natural or stain versus paint like model shipways shows. I've used gorilla glue before but never on a model. I don't like how it expands and tends to go where I don't want it but for inside a hull where it will never see daylight... yeah, could work fine I guess

I must say, honestly, that you are extremely talented builder, you take your time with the details and your work is top-notch. It is a pleasure to watch and learn from your build...

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
