Hi Yon i forgot all about that gun port up front now you gone and reminded me,actually i have a few unfinished jobs to do still buckets etc,you done a nice job on those bows i am going to leave a lot of that for later on have allready caught the cats heads and pulled them,we all got our ways of doing things and you seem to have escaped unscathed so far,me i am going to do all the lids then bung the other cannon barrels in (bung em in not very nautical is it )then do unfinished bits on deck and anywhere else. Then its hello masts .Your deck varnish looks smart or is that a light shining on it,seems to have a nice sheen to it,did you not use a matt varnish ? Dan absolutely amazing build, even now i look at scratch builds yours in particular and think how can he do something so neat and perfect,i love building my kits i am not particularly good at that,i often wonder how some people like yourself have the gift of those skills, your talking to someone here who hammers a screw in and screws a nail in.Scratch is some thing i will never ever be able to do,i really am envious of people like your good self.Once again fantastic build pleasure to look at DEREK

A Quick update on my build have slowed down a bit neglecting other household things that need doing,as soon as the weather breaks will be in the garden giving that a spring clean.Ok chain plates are on pleased to say, next job the gun port lids going to be a bit tedious those are no rush its not going anywhere.DEREK

Hi Kevin yep the manual is cack when you get that part i agree, have completed my channels and dead eyes now,not the best chains i have come across poor quality,i found also when you put the strop in the channel i t was a struggle with the smaller dead eyes to get enough strop below the channel,to hook the chain, got ther in the end after a few choice words.I spoke to Gill over this part of the build and he just plain forgot to put anything about it on his log thast is why its not mentioned .DEREK

Hello Mobbsie just took a look at this build and its looking A ok mate,am envious of one thing i see you had some square timber supplied to cut for the gun ports wish i had that in my Victory had to cut 4 seperate pieces yours is going to look a lot neater, not sure who your build is from if it is jotika am amazed they do not supply that square timber a bit more.Anyway nice job so far DEREK PS a bit of CA on the wood stops it splitting while you cut it

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
