Beautifull model and not a usual type of ship. Dropping a model is a nightmare, I am glad the damage was not very big for you.

Amazing! -
The rudder has been adjusted a bit and the hull has been smoothly sanded with waterproof grit 1000 and I have carved the joints on the hullplates. Half-round strips were also glued on the hull. After this everything is neatly put in the primer and everything looks nice. I have made a stand from sturdy cardboard so that the model will be firmly in place. I also glued cross beams in the hull and on top wooden strips with a trip styrene. That will be the gutter that drains the water from the deck. The trusses also come up here. Everything is smoothly sanded again, because I will not be able to get there again. On the crossbeams I made reinforcements on the places where the masts will come.

Hey Nils, I plan to resemble the rivets with 3D pearle paint. This is thick paint solled in small bottles and is used for applying "pearls" to papercraft projects. I will thin it a little with some modge podge and then I will apply it with a toothpic or a piece of brass wire. The results are very good, nice rounded rivetheads and the bonding to the hull is very good.

Hello Nils. Thanks for yourquestion. The lower strips (directly glued to the hull) were glued with superglue. After that I glued the upper strips with a polymere kit. To fill up the space between the hull and the strip. I hope that I answered the question for you. Kind regards, Kees

After sanding the hull I placed a keel and I glued strips of thin plastic to simulate the hullplates. After this it was a lot of work to get a nice finish but it worked well. I also made a rudder out of brass

The box is from a Heller Roc Amadour kit and I am building it as a side build. Very nice kit, The visor is indeed from HBM. I buy a lot of stuff there Thanks. The hull is 112cm long and the thickness is about 1.5mm. The hull is very stiff and cured well before I removed her from the mould. Later I will build in some reinforcements

Sorry I had to remove some dust from this topic but I did manage to build a little on the herringlugger. Health is going great and so the search for suitable work is full trottle, and that is consuming lots of (buildingtime) I feel great about it but I am also verry happy to build again. After laminating and trimming the excess fibers I started to separate the hull from the plug. That went well and after a few minutes I had a nice looking lugger hull in my hands. Then I sanded the fiberstructure smooth and clean because I will add hull plates later with rivets to give the hull a realistic finish

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
